Long run of 9 miles at 9:20 pace. Still jet-lagged and under the weather. Bad run.

Something long and slow.
I was going to do a ten-miler with a couple of friends but they both cancelled on me at the last minute.

Re: Super Awesome Sundailies
if i ever was running 9:20 miles and couldn't speed up, i would stop and rest for the next day. 9 miles at near walking pace won't help you.

Re: Super Awesome Sundailies
According to this chart, my easy pace is supposed to be just over 7, and his is supposed to be just under 9. I usually end up running mine at 7:30 so 9:20 isn't that bad for him.AudienceOfOne wrote:he's not that slow at all though. should be under 8:15, atleast. shoulda packed it up and went home.FinishingKick wrote:It will help him, that's sub 9 pace at least for you.AudienceOfOne wrote:if i ever was running 9:20 miles and couldn't speed up, i would stop and rest for the next day. 9 miles at near walking pace won't help you.

Re: Super Awesome Sundailies
if you use my 3200, my easy pace would be 6:50 and that doesn't happen often.FinishingKick wrote:According to this chart, my easy pace is supposed to be just over 7, and his is supposed to be just under 9. Re: Super Awesome Sundailies
Yeah so what I'm saying is if his pace is supposed to be just under 9 in that chart, and the paces are all too fast, 9:20 is not bad for him, it should be expected really.

Re: Super Awesome Sundailies
My last long run (before today) was 11 miles at 9:00 minute pace and the ten miler before that was at 8:40 pace. Today I had a cold and was still jet lagged. Plus all I had to eat last night was two slices of bread because I had no appetite.

Saying that 9:20 pace won't help him at all is just ignorance. And "near walking pace"? Go walk for a little while and see if your pace comes anywhere near 9:20. Any aerobic running increases your aerobic capacity, which is the whole point of base.
Anyway, 14.5 miles, in the first 7.25 miles I climbed over 700 feet. Then I turned around. My legs are about to fall off.
But distance PR.

Re: Super Awesome Sundailies
people walk 10 min. miles all the time? and shouldn't his season start soon? so he should start to get out of base and make his runs faster.HXC_Runner2012 wrote:AudienceOfOne wrote:he's not that slow at all though. should be under 8:15, atleast. shoulda packed it up and went home.FinishingKick wrote:It will help him, that's sub 9 pace at least for you.AudienceOfOne wrote:if i ever was running 9:20 miles and couldn't speed up, i would stop and rest for the next day. 9 miles at near walking pace won't help you.

I had a bad run and will picking up the pace once I get into the groove. My season doesn't start because I am in 8th grade and we don't have a CC team. I am starting with a coach next week so I will start increasing my training then.
