Triple jumpers are pretty ballin'. I hated at the OTs how they only showed them from the front. You couldn't really get a feel for how far they jumped.

I turned my afternoon 3 into a tempo. Ran it in 20 flat. Considering that's the pace I ran in the 5k I did earlier this summer, I'd say my training is starting to pay off.

Probably 6 all-out. I have another race this Sunday (friends suckered me into it Rolling Eyes ), but I have to get it some good mileage before camp.

Why would you be running 6 all out during base phase?
not everyone trains the same way Rolling Eyes

plus it's not like its really speedwork.

Not really speedwork, but it's more stress than you need in base. Especially when he has another race sunday, and had one recently IIRC.
    *She

I really feel sorry for her now, this is the second time that's happened.

    Third.

I called her a guy like the first day she was here.

    Don't sweat it.

As for running 6 all-out, it's mostly just a self-check to make sure my fitness is up where it should be. I'm following the schedule my coach gave me (with a few tiny modifications), but I really had to amp it up after outdoor. Coach tones down the mileage for outdoor in order to make sure the new kids can keep up, but that means we have to haul ass during the summer to get out fitness levels back up.

As for the racing, it isn't by choice. Road races are not my thing, but I got dragged into this one (last one I was going to do anyway).

I don't think I'd be able to make myself do a 6 mile TT. Couldn't you use the races for a fitness check?

I'm not trying to hate, just being curious.

Well it isn't as though I can sprint the whole thing! I just pace it as if I were racing the whole way (ie: 5-10 second speed cycles every couple of minutes and so on).

I could, except that everything is so flat that it doesn't give me an accurate read on whether my fitness is comparable to what it was last summer. I ran the same 6 mile loop last summer and timed it, so that I can periodically make sure I'm not mistraining or over-training.

I did an easy 5 in the morning and later did speedwork, I think I'll make it into 40 territory since I already have 30 now!

    so at my race. 23:29
my PR is 21:35, but that is during cross season.
and 23's are usually what I run in road races.
A little dissapointed because last year I ran
40 seconds faster at that race and I was running 23 or less miles a week
and this year im up to 40, and im slower.......

Your body hasn't adapted to the added stress load yet. Don't worry, real training takes patience.

I missed them on Ot. It's pretty fun though. Yesterday I started from the wrong line and when I jumped in the air i landed on the wooden plank really hard right before the pit. embaressinggg!
