trackaholic, do you believe in evolution or that a god created man and the animals exactly as we see them today
I believe god used the big bang as an instrument to create the universe within the scientific laws he set forth and created. But I do not believe in evolution. I believe god created man and animals exactly as we see them today, beginning with adam and eve.

find me one place where I said science and god are two seperate ideas that could not combine. I think Ive sated on numerous occasions already I believe science is actually in favor of religon.

You are a horrible catholic though. Or do Byzantine Catholics not side with the head of the Catholic church, the pope?Pope John Paul II stated that evolution is "more than just a hypothesis." The official stance of the Catholic church is that humans were brought about by natural selection and evolution but God "ensouled" them. If you are such a good Catholic, why do you disagree with your own church? Hypocrite

Re: Evolution vs. Intelligent Design
Trackaholic wrote:Dude, are you dense? Just because something is scientific doesnt mean god didnt have a hand in it! GOD CREATED SCIENCE, all the precious laws, all the physics and chemistry and biology and cosmology that you so dearly cling to was all ORCHESTRATED by god so that the universe could work!
God made a substance float if it is less dense, or has less mass per unit volume, than other components in a mixture. For example, if you toss a handful of rocks into a bucket of water, the rocks, which are dense compared to the water, will sink. The water, which is less dense than the rocks, will float. Basically, the rocks push the water out of the way, or displace it. For an object to be able to float, it has to displace a weight of fluid equal to its own weight.
Water reaches its maximum density at 4°C (40°F). As it cools further and freezes into ice, it actually becomes less dense. On the other hand, most substances are most dense in their solid (frozen) state than in their liquid state. Water is different because of hydrogen bonding.
A water molecule is made from one oxygen atom and two hydrogen atoms, strongly joined to each other with covalent bonds. Water molecules are also attracted to each other by weaker chemical bonds (hydrogen bonds) between the positively-charged hydrogen atoms and the negatively-charged oxygen atoms of neighboring water molecules. As water cools below 4°C, the hydrogen bonds adjust to hold the negatively charged oxygen atoms apart. This produces a crystal lattice, which is commonly known as 'ice'.
Ice floats because it is about 9% less dense than liquid water. In other words, ice takes up about 9% more space than water, so a liter of ice weighs less than a liter water. The heavier water displaces the lighter ice, so ice floats to the top. One consequence of this is that lakes and rivers freeze from top to bottom, allowing fish to survive even when the surface of a lake has frozen over. If ice sank, the water would be displaced to the top and exposed to the colder temperature, forcing rivers and lakes to fill with ice and freeze solid.
Why do you think that is? Do you think ice has some kind of intellect of its own and it LEARNED how to expand so it could save the fishies? or is it more likely an intelligent being designed ice to work that way?
Same with the sun, it sits in a very, very slim margin. If it moves just a little this way, or a little that way, or earth would either be turned into a freezing rock or a worldwide desert with temperatures above 200 degrees fahreniet in the NORTH POLE.
Did the sun just go *boom* and land in that exact precise spot? The planets have not expanded further away or closer to the sun, so it was not a process of the earth slowly moving into the correct position over millions of years. No, the sun was RIGHT there, exactly where it needed to be.
what are the chances of that happening all by itself?
The planets are actually slowly falling out of the orbit of the sun actually. If you were educated at all, you would know that.
And do you not understand the nature of hydrogen bonding or are you more dense than the water in which the ice floats. I doubt you will get that because you obviously don't understand chemistry.

Re: Evolution vs. Intelligent Design
I was reading stuff on pg.12...
hmmm hypocrites??? You guys won’t exactly open up your minds either. So both sides are hypocritical =]
But really (no offense..) you cant argue with Christians or anyones religion , some of my friends are almost die-hard and we get in debates alot..I went to their youth groups and church (I didn’t agree with what was being said, but I kinda liked it because it was almost like a history lesson). but they still wouldn't even consider thinking evolution or the big bang theory was possible. SO I’m sick of it!! haha and You guys judge really easily, like I disagree with your religion, you guys go "oh so you must be atheist?" NO I’m just not your religion! There are other religions out there you know... This wasn’t aimed at anyone particular btw when I mean guys I guess I mean Christians in general. I just find you very stubborn, but not all I mean..just most.
