Do you ever get that "I feel like I'm running realllly fast but really your not" ? I thought I was going to break my pr by alot, but turns out I was a minute or so behind =[
guuuh, I def. need to start running faster.
Tomorrow is easily our hardest course, it has huuuge steep sandy hills that are just killer to run on. My time is going to suck.

I wouldn't say too much, but I did have a few weeks of inconsistent mileage that probably made 50 mpw unsafe. I hope to get back up to around 50 before track. I'm thinking I'll start at 12 mpw, raising by 4 every other week until 20, then adding 10 mpw every four weeks until 50 (down weeks included). But yeah, injury is just part of the sport. I now know what not to do.

Re: The Official 2008 XC Thread
ugh....i got a bruised knee and it really hurt my race today, the first mile went out in a relaxed 5:36 then it progressively got worse as I crossed the 2 mile at like 11:47, and finished at the 5 mile line at 32:02. I can barely walk on it and I can't bend my leg right now.

Re: The Official 2008 XC Thread
Rant time. wooo.
meet today.
It was against our rival school, and we went in knowing we had no hope of winning.
Luckily for me, their course just happens to run through a Christmas tree farm. I just happen to be allergic to this type of Christmas tree. So, before the race started, I was already gasping for air. The running did not help with that. The whole time, there were three girls from the other school behind me, chatting away, while I was struggling to breathe. In the last 800m or so, they were discussing when the should pass me. They collectively decided to wait until the end and then out sprint me (I CAN HEAR YOU DAMNIT!!). Two of them passed me in the last 200m. The last one passed me in the last meter. We were sprinting neck and neck, and I can't sprint to save my life. I breifely considered diving to try and beat her, but I decided not to and I lost by about 1/100 of a second. My final time was about 24:5x.
I was pissed. If it wasn't for those stupid Christmas trees, I would have PRd and I would have beaten those three girls.
And also we ended up losing 17-43.

No I don't know him. Jim Spisak from Bishop Mccort was there and he kicked my ass with a time of 15:32.4 and I only ran a 17:00.7. Its people like that that make me feel like crap lol.

Re: The Official 2008 XC Thread
Warning: Sort of a rant.
Just because I don't know where else to put this, I'll go ahead and say it here. My summer training sucked. I only had 4 weeks at or above 40 mpw, and even those were incredibly inconsistent going 40, 40, 45, 35, 0, 35, 50. It shouldn't come as any surprise that my season got so messed up. Even if I hadn't gotten hurt I probably wouldn't have cracked 18:30. It gives me hope that ~8 weeks at 40-50 will yield some decent results this track season.

I got injured at Mcquaid.
I stepped awkwardly during a workout on thursday, so I took it really easy friday. During my race on saturday it just kept getting worse and worse until I thought it was broken. It's not though. But running Mcquaid in spikes didn't help, with all the concrete.

But if anyone was at Mcquaid, and heard someone singing the Buffalo Bills shout song during the JV race, that was me. I started singing it and two team mates behind me joined in. But then they died and I was all alone so I stopped. And then my toe started hurting......
