tried it. calf and foot have to work 4x as hard in sand to move you the same speed as normal. calf was sore all week. beach running sucks. don't let baywatch fool you.

Beach running is ok when the sand is packed but sometimes when it's uneven it screws up my ankles.

Re: Running on the beach....
I read that if you run on the beach you should just be careful about getting achilles (sp?) tendonitis because of the uneven surfaces.
so don't forget to ice after it

and Ohio borders Lake Erie, one of the great lakes, so if he was in Ohio he could have been running there.

Re: Running on the beach....
i've played football on the beach for like 5 hours once, and the next day my calves were so sore haha.
but i've never actually just ran along the beach for anything more than probably 400m.

i had beastly calves
we have this one race where it is a devilish uphill for a mile...and i creamed everyone on it and in this one race when i swear it was an uphill climb the whole 5k i ended up coming in 12th because no one else could handle the crazy uphills
but i say i had them because since i cant run i have probally lost that muscle
