My dad ran a 11:something (I ran that my first time and I always rub it in his face) two mile and played soccer and my mom did nothing.

How fast were your parents?
If they didn't run track what did they do?
My dad ran a 11:something (I ran that my first time and I always rub it in his face) two mile and played soccer and my mom did nothing.

Re: How fast were your parents?
My dads friend convinced my dad to do a 5k one day in college and he ended up running sub 17 off no training. He ran one recently though and ran like 26.

Re: How fast were your parents?
Neither of my parents ran in high school or ever. I think they were both skiers and I'm pretty sure that was it.
My mom actually did just run a 42 minute 5k.
I use this as an excuse as to why I suck.

Re: How fast were your parents?
My mom was a basketball/Softball player. She was the center on the girls high school basketball team, and center at a crappy D3 college for basketball. She was the catcher for my high school team and was all state her senior year. She played D3 softball too, and was the only girl on the team to get a hit when they played their only D1 college ever (Providence, lol) so she was decent.
My dad pretty much did the weight lifting thing and that was it athletically. He got pretty jacked when he was in college, but he had to work his way through college, so he didn't really have time for sports.
My dad quoted me a 7:00 mile from high school, and my mom said she hated running and always ran really slow when she had to for basketball and stuff.
So neither of them participated in Track/XC, but my mom was a pretty good athlete.
My Uncle was a pretty successful runner though. He didn't start running until college, and never ran competitively, but he ran like a 2:50 marathon, which I thought was pretty badass.
Aside from that though, my family wasn't huge into sports, I've got a couple decent basketball players for relatives, but other runners.

Re: How fast were your parents?
since everyone is going into detail:
my dad was a good hurdler in like junior high but he quit and pursued his good sport, wrestling. he was very good at that and im not sure but i think he mightve been top 10 in state at one point.
my uncle on my dads was an amazing swimmer. his son is now swimming at some college and transfering to D1 UND but i dont think he'll keep swimming.
my mom was a cheerleader. she lived in a hicktown though. shes a lil overweight but its not her fault its like a gull bladder problem or something.
he side of the family was horrible when it came to sports.
now that i think of it on my dads side i got some talent.

well I guess my grandpapa is in his 70's and he still "runs" like 3 miles a day, and kayaks etc.. I guess he might have been athletic. no idea about anyother grandparents.
