    RANT: Parents Empty RANT: Parents

    Post by runner_dude Mon Aug 25, 2008 1:17 pm

Ok, so here's the deal. Me and this girl have been 'talking' for close to a month now. We're getting pretty close, and I really like her. Anyway, her mother told her she can't be in a "serious relationship" until next April, when her ringette season is over (she plays on the provincial team and another team). Her mom made this rule because she doesn't think Hilary will have enough time to devote to a serious relationship in addition to school and ringette. But, Hilary is allowed to go on as many "casual dates" as she wants.

My beef is how huge the grey area between "casual dating" and "serious relationship" is, and how even though we've only held hands like twice, her mom is still getting on her case about the relationship. Her mom wants her to take it slower, but I'm not sure that it is possible to go any slower.

From what we've talked about it, she seems like she's ready to be serious, but her mom is the one standing in the way. She plans to once ringette and school start to try to prove it to her mom that she is able to balance everything. She doesn't really want to get in a huge fight with her mother over it.

T B K wrote:How does her father stand on the "serious relationship"?

I don't really think where her father stands matters, her mom defiantly wears the pants in the relationship.

It's not my definition that matters, it's her moms. But there is no clear line where one ends and the other begins.

Sad this is a depressing thread.
if i were you id probably give up on it and try to move on, but you shouldn't do that. i think more serious would be wanting to be together everytime your free and taking away from other things that you should be focused on. sex would also be on this list also..

I definatly don't think we're going to be having sex anytime soon, we met at a church retreat, and I'm certainly not going to do it until I can be able to support a child if she becomes pregnant. Which won't be probably until I'm out of university.

And I'm not gonna post pictures of her online Greg, but she is defiantly worth waiting for.

Hey, if it's important to her, I'm not going to knock it. A lot of people would knock running, but we all know it's not dumb.
