Religion is a neurosis. That is to say, belief in religion is a psychological problem.
    http://www.godlessgeeks.com/LINKS/Neurosis.htm

Deep down, we don't want to be alone. We are afraid of being alone in the universe. We are afraid of ceasing to exist after death. We want to feel connected to the universe, and so we use religion as a crutch. In this way, religion is a neurosis borne from fear. It is a response to deep emotional conflicts and weaknesses.

This is pretty much what I said like a zillion times on the other thread.

I'll quote one of my favorite movies (this doesnt make me a nerd..lol)

"So what's more likely? That an all-powerful, mysterious God created the Universe, and decided not to give any proof of his existence? Or, that He simply doesn't exist at all, and that we created Him, so that we wouldn't have to feel so small and alone? "

    thats from contact btw.

that doesnt mean he exists (i'm not getting into that again) , I just really like that quote. Something to ponder Neutral

Or is there more than that?

Maybe you're just trying to convince yourself that you aren't accountable, that your bodies are yours alone to do as you please, that the universe just fell into place.

The world has taught you to limit yourself to the world and what it knows. I know more.

My God is chasing after you guys and he will not rest until He brings you home.

I can see the fingerprints of God in my life. Call me crazy.

Did you ever think for just a second that you're the weak minded one, because you can't seem to grasp anything that can't be proven to you?

I don't like to push religion on others, but it's just something to think about.

I believe in God, but I completely agree that it is entirely possible/likely that God was just something made up by cavemen to explain why the weather, or why sometimes they caught the mammoth and sometimes they didn't. But something still makes me believe. That said, I think that the problem with religion is it tends to make fundamentalists who completely close their mind to anyone elses ideas. People tend to forget that there is no concrete evidence proving God exists. So go ahead. You don't have to believe in God. And I completely understand where you're coming from

You guys have far to much pride if you think that any creationist ideas are within the realm of human comprehension.

I agree very strongly with two christian ideals, the first is that god works in mysterious ways, even if there is no god, the way this universe was created was by a force outside the realm of our perception. that is why can not simply look into space or look into matter and see more than just the quantifiable. All this rhetoric proves nothing, because there is no way for us to know. (If you were curious, the second christian ideal I mentioned was God helps those who help themselves)

    I hate Sunday Philosophers :/

im being completely serious right now when i say have seen GOD. I have seen him in truly amazing ways on the way he is affecting my life. during the tornado, i was 45 seconds from death. I prayed to GOD saying that I know he is just testing my faith and I believe in him. 3 seconds later, the tornado raised. You know how my last name is piper. read my familys book 90 minutes in heaven.
