okay obviously I would go with science. has evidence (yeah yeah lets not go there again)
I'm on the side of science too, science isn't a religion, it's in a lot of religions.

Because the soul is pure. Without the brain there would be no sin. A sin is defined by those who define it. It's basic sociology.

god never actually told anyone what a sin is. because according to all of you he speaks through people, so in effect: sin is a man-conceived idea.

and for the record, i don't believe in god, but i believe that the catholic church is an invaluable source of inspiration and that the message of the church is correct. the morals that it presents are right on spot and agree with most of them tenfold.

i believe in the message of the bible, but not the information in the bible

So if heaven and hell is decided between the amount of sin accrued, then must we never die? Sin is dictated by the mind and body, not the soul. Or are we just decided at conception whether or not we'll go to heaven or hell, because the soul is innocent and pure. I believe sin is just the self conscience created by Catholics to control society. While I believe in what's right and what's wrong, enlightenments have come to realize what these priests and cardinals have done. This is why many religions have out branched and created a new.

That's exactly how I and many others in this world believe. We believe in right and wrong, but we don't need an imaginary figure to consolidate those beliefs. And I sure as hell don't need to worry about big brother watching over my shoulder. God only seems to be a Santa Claus type figure that is just backed up with more "evidence".

Of course you're accountable for things. It's just that sins are relative among cultures. It's considered a Koranic sin in Saudi Arabia for women to drive, but clearly, that's a cultural ideal.

About morals..... God can be considered a symbol for society. All of the ten commandments help hold the society together. Worship of the same God holds people together. Not killing or stealing keeps society from falling apart. Not envying others further prevents theft. Children who listen to their parents are more likely to survive(honor father and mother.) So if you understand evolution, you can consider the idea that we adopted belief in God because it helps our society survive...

This is what my philosophy class decided was true at least, lol....even if you don't believe this, it helps you look at religion logically

god never actually told anyone what a sin is. because according to all of you he speaks through people, so in effect: sin is a man-conceived idea.

and for the record, i don't believe in god, but i believe that the catholic church is an invaluable source of inspiration and that the message of the church is correct. the morals that it presents are right on spot and agree with most of them tenfold.

i believe in the message of the bible, but not the information in the bible
so i guess carving some of them on a couple stone tablets won't do it for you?

Or are we just decided at conception whether or not we'll go to heaven or hell, because the soul is innocent and pure. I believe sin is just the self conscience created by Catholics to control society. While I believe in what's right and what's wrong, enlightenments have come to realize what these priests and cardinals have done. This is why many religions have out branched and created a new.

no, you still don't get it. heaven and hell is not determined on how much you sin or how many good deeds you do. we're saved by grace. by being faithful, and repenting, we are saved. you can't get into heaven by good deeds or get into hell by bad ones. we all fall short.

That's exactly how I and many others in this world believe. We believe in right and wrong, but we don't need an imaginary figure to consolidate those beliefs. And I sure as hell don't need to worry about big brother watching over my shoulder. God only seems to be a Santa Claus type figure that is just backed up with more "evidence".
if that's all christianity is(making people do good deeds), then why not let it be like islam, where you can only get to heaven through good works and staying away from sin?
