Where Did God Go?????
God apparently used to speak to people all the time 4000 years ago, but recently he is no where to be found! Is he mute now? Why does he not speak to us directly anymore? I just don't get this phenomenon; honestly, it is baffling.

Re: Where Did God Go?????
after the gospels were written, and after Paul and the all the other saints and apostles went out spreading the good news, the books they wrote were complete. God showed us what to do and how to do it by sending himself down to show us how it's done in person. why would we need prophets now? in BC times, they didn't know what God wanted them to do so they had people like Abraham, Samuel, and David. then God himself came down, told us everything we need to know, and made sure it was written down for all future generations to know.SourWorms wrote:God apparently used to speak to people all the time 4000 years ago, but recently he is no where to be found! I agree. God has given us his written word. There are still unfulfilled prophecies to finish, ie Revelation. These may be old, but still unfulfilled, so they pertain to our time. If he still has these to fulfill, why does he need more to ass. I have no idea if that makes sense, it does in my head but I couldn't write it down exactly.
Anyways, ther emay not be prophets, but I still believe he is talking to people, just not in the same way as he did in the Old Testament.
I also agree that he speaks to us through miracles and our conscionce (sp?)

Re: Where Did God Go?????
But the Old Testament is supposedly the word of God, given to humans before Jesus. Why did he need to come down again if he had already spread his word? You logic fails here.

Why do you ask questions you already know the answer to? I mean, sense you're a theology genius you should know. God came on earth through Jesus to replace the old law with grace, and to set an example as to how christians should live their lives.

So has this not changed in 2000 years? It certainly had since the supposed creation of the earth and abraham

When you say "speak to us", I think what you meant to say was "speak to me". Just because you have lost all connection with God doesn't mean we all have. You just won't experience what us christians experience until you accept JC. I talk to God every day and he works his ways into every aspect of my life.

if so, then yes it has changed, but we can look in the bible, see how Jesus or his followers acted, and decide what we should do.

Re: Where Did God Go?????
when I was little I wrote a note to Jesus one night asking him to sign his name so I'd know he was there.
Now I realize that Jesus doesn't have to sign his name for us to know that he's with us. He's in acts of love, miracles, and he'll always be in our hearts.

Re: Where Did God Go?????
^^^Very much agreed, people nowadays act like God doesn't exist unless he makes them win the lottery or something, it doesn't work like that. You just have to stop all of the commotion in our busy lives and listen for once instead of asking asking asking. Too many distractions.

Re: Where Did God Go?????
you would have had to listen. read the bible, pray, spend some time with him, read some good christian books. heck, even if you didn't do any of that you should still be able to say it.Pinthin wrote:well when I was little I use to "believe". I guess he didn't like me =/
or maybe you were just faking it. if your faith was weak enough to turn into an atheist(or whatever you call yourself), then maybe you never truly believed, and you were still sinning. in the OT it tells us that if your motives aren't pure than he might not reveal himself to you.

I considered my self pretty good. I went to church with my fam, I read part of the bible (short attention span, prayed before I went to bed and etc. OH and my fave movie were those ones about moses and joesph..cartoon??haha eh anyways I don’t know how else I could have spent time. I guess I wasn’t good enough . I considered myself to be good.
When I hit high school and started learning about all these different religions I just started "opening" up to new things I guess. I'm just throwing this out there.. You live in Ohio it’s a lot more conservative then Washington. Maybe it’s just where I'm from how being non-Christian isn’t as a big of a deal... I don’t know just thought I'd throw that out there. I notice it with all my relatives that come from the mid-west anyways. And I’m not atheist for the billionth time, I’m agnostic but I'm fond of Buddhism. I have a Buddhist friend and I don’t know, I really like their religion, its very peaceful.
