Re: Where Did God Go?????
soooo a man in the sky that no one has ever seen dictating what we do and who created the earth with the snap of a finger is more plausible than .001% of the planets in the universe having everything fall together perfectly in order to create life?

Re: Where Did God Go?????
hmm do you have a lottery there?
my point is
0.001% relatively is a pretty high statistic
1 in a 100,000 is actually so high I would question it
and with the discovery of the rare life theory, i think thats the name of it anyway?
it would suggest simple life like bacteria may be common place through the universe but for intelligent life like us it is know believed to be incredibly rare.
however i don't believe in any god

Re: Where Did God Go?????
someone once told me that everything just falling into place was like imagining the whole of new york taken apart down to nuts and bolts and being dropped from an aeroplane and it all just falling into place
he was a smart guy, he was quite possibly right
i guess we must be pretty damn lucky then

If you go back to what I said it seems more probable that we're not lucky that happened but that someone made it happen.Wgrt wrote:someone once told me that everything just falling into place was like imagining the whole of new york taken apart down to nuts and bolts and being dropped from an aeroplane and it all just falling into place

Thanks^
The universe didn't always exist - right this is known as the solid state theory - now discounted as it is proved the universe is expanding
This universe at any rate, ever heard of the oscillating universe theory?
If god existed why would the universe be expanding?
Why would he add so many variables into the equation?
If I was going to make a universe I don't think I would be creating comets and meteorites which could obliterate us.
Why have we found evidence for dinosaurs? I'm no expert on the bible, but I don't remember any mention of them in there and doesn't tie in with adam and eve.
Why put all your eggs in one basket on earth?
I mean it only took you 7 days why not create others?
What about all the evidence for us evolving from apes?
That makes us even?
There are hundreds of very important unanswered questions in both arguments, I'm not trying to change your belief, just to see my point of view, like I'm trying to do yours.
Healthy debate is always good though

God has always existed. Seems impossible, right?
So far we're even.
The universe always existed and life turned out to be successful the way it is now even though such a thing can only happen under very certain circumstances. Seems impossible, right?
Since God existed, we were given favorable conditions for life. That's plausible.
Now the religious side is one up.

The universe may not have always existed the way you see it but if you believe the Big Bang Theory then that ball of mass had to have always existed, that's what I'm talking about.Wgrt wrote:Thanks^FinishingKick wrote:The universe always existed. Seems impossible, right?

Who are you to question God's decision? Would you have the final say over everything or would you just let some things happen? Also, how do you know He didn't make other planets?
I'm not even going to talk about the evolution points. I believe in evolution and the Bible and am backed by the Catholic Church.
All of your questions are common.

I find it funny because your religion is based off of catholicism, right? They are the original.
But they aren't the first ones to think up a religion (which makes them less right)
^ did any of that make sense?

Re: Where Did God Go?????
it's a ton more than that.SourWorms wrote:just because the catholic church doesnt denounce science? and have found a way to make god and science work together?
and i love it how catholics accept science when they say we evolved from monkeys, even though science also says the dead can't be raised to life(Jesus). i don't understand how that works, i'd love it if someone could explain that. it's stupid to believe in one and not the other, they void each other out.
how can you choose not believe just the first part of genesis because scientists told you so, but when they get to the NT, then you choose to figuratively close your ears? even atheists should be able to understand my view on that.

BAHAHAHA
my faith is based off the Holy Bible, influenced by a devine living God. it was written by human hands working for Him, long before the word "catholic" was first said. higher-up catholics read the bible but tried to keep it away from poorer people. gutenburg invented the printing press and the world saw the glory of God. they saw the MAJOR flaws in the evil corrupted eartly catholic church, thus creating the denominations we see today. IF the early catholic church had gone by the book, the would be a lot fewer denominations today.

Re: Where Did God Go?????
I believe that there was an insane man who believed he was the son of God and never actually died on the cross. Like I said, watch the History Channel. It would take a long time for me to explain all the reasoning and facts behind it.
EDIT: And in the end, it probably still wouldn't change anyones mind, so I'll just leave it at that.
