There are plenty of people who have nothing on Christmas and instead of worrying about your 15 presents, take some time to reflect on what you have and how lucky you are to have it.

Perhaps if you read the actual post, he never said be grateful for what you have, he said lets praise the lord our savior holy ghost jesus christ. Fuck your gifts and fuck those starving kids in Africa, as long as you spend the holidays for what they are intended to be, to pray and drink communion, not to spend time with family and be thankful, then you are celebrating it the correct way.

I did say be grateful for what you have. I guess you missed that part though, so I'll quote it for you.

I remember when an 80+ year old member of my church talked about how when she was having Christmas during the Great Depression she was content with just getting an orange. She said that was one of the best Christmas' she's ever had, because she got to spend the day with her family and no distractions. Sometimes I guess it's better to be poor than rich.

Maybe you should have read my whole post...

you know there is a vast amount of evidence stating that Christ was not born on Christmas day?

Yes, astronomers have found that it would have been somewhere between mid June to mid July. We choose to celebrate it on December 25th though, It doesn't really matter that much.

Yes, I'm waking up 2 hours early to do that so I can spend the rest of the day with my family. So what's the problem now?

There's nothing wrong with spending time with your family. I just find waking up two hours early to have a talk with an imaginary friend funny.

Read past the lines and remember that the church says "love thy neighbour" and such. Even if you don't agree with the religion, there are still good values at the core and our world would be a lot better off if we embraced some of those values in our everyday lives. That is what i meant by my previous post.

I read all the way to the video and realized this was bullshit, then read the bolded CHRISTmas.

So in conclusion, what you were trying to say was "praise the lord, god almighty, what would jesus do, the power of christ compels you, be grateful, save me jesus, some talk in tongue, JESUS LOVES ALL, fuck yo couch"

Audience of One, I'm with you 100% of the way. It makes me sad to see the meaning of Christmas lost, and I'm really trying to focus this year on the real reason for the season. I thought your post was amazing, and if people dont appreciate it then one day I hope they will. Thanks Smile

I'm not sure what the last words mean but yea, basically. That's what this holiday is for, that's what I'm going to base it around.

Maybe this would be an unfair generalization, but I think the problem with most American Protestants is that they try to impose Christianity on people to a degree that it is annoying to the non-religious individual. That's not going to make anyone listen, instead, it will turn them against you. You can be just as effective as a Christian by being one with your actions. As it said somewhere in the Gospel, people should be able to tell you're a Christian by the way you act, without you having to tell them your religion.

Yes, I agree. Your actions should say who you are, and words can come later. Actions speak louder than words, and people will remember what you did more that what you said.

That's why when I last posted I didn't go off on anyone for saying something rude, because that would totally defeat the purpose. It's much more about your actions that your words.

It's not just about being nice, but in the bible it says your supposed to show god's love through you. And of course no body is perfectly nice all the time, otherwise we wouldnt be human.

And also what i was saying is, if i had gone off and said something rude someone would say, wow, they're trying to shove christianity down my throat which turns people away
