    *Official Ask Alex Thread* PrayerBands
i thought it might just say "pray for china" but can you say that with 5 letters????

    2. Does HK have the same laws as China? i mean, what's the same and what's different?

so my uncle is 6"7 and when he went to china people were like comparing his feet and polking him almost to make sure that he was real.

and i heard someone with blonde or red hair went to china and they did the same thing.

So.... is it rare to see extremely tall and colorful haired people in China? hah.

    you mean yao-ming?? haha

My friend lived in china for a couple years and she's a blonde. She was telling me how women would always feel her hair or look at her eyes (she has suuuper blue eyes) and one woman even almost kidnapped her confused .. yeah. so I'm guessing its kinda rare, but maybe not in HK.

I feel bad for making Alex answer all these but not enough to stop me from asking What kind of clothes most teens wear over there. Do you where Hollister and stuff like that? Is there American Eagle over there?

    okayyy
    miler:
-my chinese isnt very good, but the 2nd and 3rd character mean "China" and the last one means like "tell" or something.
-HK has its own government, so there are seperate laws here than there are in china. examples are freedom of religion, press and its capitalist instead of communist.
-umm most people just call mcdonalds fast food. but i imagine people here would say its american food. mcdonalds in hk is way better than in the US imo.

    pinthin:
-i have a chinese meal like 1/3 days, but i snack on dumplings kind of often during the school year.

    xotrackgirl:
-you wont see too many tall/colorful hair people in china, so alot of times people will come up to you and touch it, or take a picture of you. theres a bunch of tall/colorful hair people in hk so no one really cares about it.

    FinishingKick:
-the kids at my school range, but alot of them are pretty smart..espescially the koreans.. i've had alot of my friends who werent considered smart here, move back to the U.S. and they say public schools there are really easy compared to here. of course my school has its fair share of idiots, but its pretty tough.
-americans dont have that great of a rep here. most americans in my school make fun about america.

    RWS:
-yeah, people at my school were those kind of brands...hollister and american eagle are pretty big. ambercrombie & fitch is big too. we dont have too many of those clothing stores (most of the stuff here are like boarding brands, billabong, quicksilver, ripcurl etc) so most people buy their clothes in the summer while they're back in the U.S. or wherever they go during summer. i'll usually wear shirts with funny quotes or pictures.

-ehh, in china it wouldnt take long for people to come up to you and touch your hair, or take your picture.
-i dont really ride in a car much because i almost always take public transport. its really easy and really cheap. and since gas here is $8-9'ish/gallon most people wont drive unless they have to, or are feeling lazy lol. so yeah, its really easy to live without a car. my family only got a car like 4 years ago.

-in china it would be pretty weird to see a chinese person with bleached blonde hair, but in hk, you see it semi often. it looks really stupid imo.
-umm it really depends on who the person is, but i think the general feeling would be annoyance if that happened. my friends are idiots. one of my friends that i've known for 5 years thought i was half white until a couple months ago. my friend from kindergarten thought i was 1/4 white until this summer lol. a kid on my xc team thought i was 1/4 african hahaha. its really funny.
