Yeah, I was just kidding, RWS. If I ever get an article in the paper for winning any running event I will scan it, put it as my avatar, spam the PR forum with it, and then I will bump this thread until the end of time. Don't worry, it probably won't happen. But if it does I gave you guys fair warning.

It just bugs me that there is this kid on my team that gets his name in the paper for being the one of the top runners in the county when his 5k pr is only 6 seconds faster than me. I beat him in the 800. I beat him in distances over a 5k but he just has the 1mile to the 5k and he is in the paper and gets to be on the county all-stars team and all that. Mad

I got "most dedicated" for cross country 2 years in a row. I'm not our fastest runner, I'm 7th, so that is cool to get most dedicated.

I don't really get that many compliments... I'm not the slowest, but I sort of go unnoticed becaue I'm not really fast enough. I think the only thing my coach said about my running this year was "at least you're consistent" after my times at 4 different races in the mile were 6:00, 5:56, 5:58, and 5:54. yeah. that's basically the story of my life. bounce

after reading this thread I went to track camp and 5 coaches from around the area gave me incredible compliments. I gotta say it felt pretty good. hard work pays off. but I just thought that was ironic.

Miler, I got the idea from an old RW thread and I got that compliment yesterday so I thought it'd be cool for some people to show off their talents.

my best compliment probably came from the boys track coach [also xc coach] during indoor, when I was first getting started with track [first race]. he encouraged me as I raced & after the race. but it was mainly what he said to some other lady who works at our school. she ended up telling me what he said & it was just really encouraging. also, during track my coach said I was one of the most improved athletes he's ever seen. I know I'm not that good at running, but it's still nice to get the encouragement.

my best compliment was probably recieving the award of best scholar athlete, a boy also recieved this award too. it was at a school presentation and the principle went on to discuss how hard we worked for this award and how much of an accomplishment it is..getting mentioned in newspapers is always great too..

Ou school has an award like that too. They give it to a Junior boy and girl at the awards banquet. It always goes to people that are in the popular sports like football, basketball, and volleyball.

9:12? That sucks. My school's records are 4:32/9:48 so I'll have a bit of an easier time taking them down.
