Awesome day.
Yesterday I did a 10K in 42 minutes and won against my previous rival who became my friend after the race.
I got asked by the good school in town to run with them during summer to see how I like it and Im excited. Its all awesome except my parents are saying they wont let me represent the rival school of where they went...

So I'm assuming the coach for the school you run at now isn't that great?

nicest person i know. just doesnt dedicate himself to helping me [others also] become a better runner. in fast our xc training for my current school is 2 months after the good schools. the bad thing is that theyre rivals and plus most of my friends are going to my current school. this sucks. The Bee's Knees wrote:So I'm assuming the coach for the school you run at now isn't that great?

Re: Awesome day.
You seriously have a school asking you to transfer after a 42 minute 10K? That's a pretty good time for an 8th grader, but seriously...there are 16:00-16:30 5k runners in our city that get zero attention.

Why don't you stay at the school your at now and just train/race with the rival school? You don't necessarily have to transfer.

Re: Awesome day.
I'm just saying, it's pretty weird for middle schools to be so competitive. It seems kind of unhealthy that a middle school is trying to get transfers so they can have a seriously BAMF MS XC/track team.
And you shouldn't assume that you will go sub-16 just because you switch middle schools. I had a friend who ran 16:58 freshman year. His PR senior year was 16:51.

Once again, yes it is a HS XC transfer. Id have him for the next 5 years. I wont be transfering middle schools but high schools.AudienceOfOne wrote:you're only in JH for pete's sake....i mean won't you have a different HS coach anyway?P2 wrote:lol..i would, but i dont know if you can here and thats a major dick move. The Bee's Knees wrote:P2 wrote:nicest person i know. just doesnt dedicate himself to helping me [others also] become a better runner. in fast our xc training for my current school is 2 months after the good schools. the bad thing is that theyre rivals and plus most of my friends are going to my current school. this sucks. The Bee's Knees wrote:So I'm assuming the coach for the school you run at now isn't that great?

Re: Awesome day.
eh just take it upon yourself to succeed with a crap coach. surround yourself with friends that you can run with, knowlegable adults that can help you, and run with the rival team if you have to.P2 wrote:Once again, yes it is a HS XC transfer. Yeah, he got pretty thoroughly injured sophomore year. He's not normal, but I'm just saying P2 shouldn't take anything for granted.AudienceOfOne wrote:well, he has problems then.funrunner wrote:I'm just saying, it's pretty weird for middle schools to be so competitive.
