So last week I ran and I started to get pain in my right hip, but I couldn't tell if it was my hip flexor or IT band. I substituted my runs for pool runs to help it heal. I was still having significant pain, so I took four days off (plus I was traveling). It eventually got better with the rest. But today after my 6 mile easy run, the pain came back. I decided not to do any more workouts today just as a precaution. What could this pain be caused by? I really don't want an injury; I have running camp next week! Help!

Re: Hip pain
have you been overtraining? what's you mileage been like?
it sounds like hip flexor to me. it doesn't sound like pool running is helping you either. try a stationary bike and don't go at high intenssity for awhile.
good luck.

Re: Hip pain
took me 3 weeks of just xtraining ... and then a few weeks of real easy running...now about 3 months later im pretty much healed with the occasional pain...
that really hurts and isnt some kinda pain thats easy to push through im sorry you have that injury
but listen to your body and if it hurts, stop, because you want to have this fixed by xc sesaon. ice and advil and bike and swim. if you feel confident that the pain is gone, try an easy 2 miles to test it or something, but dont jump right up to a 6 miler

Re: Hip pain
My pain always seems to go away with x training and no running, but then always reappears after I run.
This sucks.
I have cross country camp next week.
Crap.
