Ya, I guess if it doesn't wok it doesn't work, eventually I'll be running marathons anyway and it won't really matter

Re: Time Progression
I did football 7th grade but ran track during the summer
7th grade track- 2:45 800
1:16 or so 400 (haha)
8th grade i ran xc and trackk
3rd runner on 8th grade team (12:31 2 mile)
track
5:44 mile
2:29 800
1:08 400
then things started getting serious.....
9th grade xc season, hardly ran 15 mpw during the summer, jumped in xc at 25-30 mpw
9th grade pr- 20:50 not even top 7 jv
9th grade track- 5:31 mile (only ran it once)
2:22 800
12:01 2 mile
then 10th grade xc..ran a little more maybe 20 mpw. still not enough to make a huge difference
usually 7th or 8th JV runner
pr- 19:52
then 10th grade track came
200- around 26 or so:) in workouts
400- 58.8 in a 4x400
600- 1:34 in a workout
800- 2:15.1 in a 4x800 split
1600- 5:07 at confrence
3200- 11:34(only ran it once)
im aiming to make a huge impact this year in cross, hopefully taking a 6-7th place varsity spot, and get set up for a huge season in xc and track my junior year

Re: Time Progression
9th grade outdoor (first year running, and I didn't care about it at all)
100: 13 (don't know what was up with this race...very out of the blue)
200: 32
400: 71
10th grade cross country (still didn't care)
5k: 23:21 (stop laughing)
10th grade indoor
400: 69
800: 3:08 (yes, it took me longer than three minutes to run an 800)
10th grade outdoor (started caring)
400: 67
800: 2:49
Wow, that was depressing. My 5k PR should be going down a lot (hopefully) by the 6th. If not, I might just have to quit and go find a bridge to live under.

Re: Time Progression
This is my first year of track so I never did base before but :
XC
5k:25:52-->21:46
Indoor:
400:61-->56:xx(high) only did it like 3 times
600: 1:49-->1:31
800: 2:33-->2:18
1000: 3:14-->3:20 only did it 2 times
Outdoor:
400:no change (did it twice)
800: 2:13-->2:07
1600: 5:02--> 5:00.01 (I like to think I can sub 5) did it only twice
I know my times are slow but Im proud of my progression throughout the year. I think I can do better next year because now I know the importance of milage. During outdoor I averaged like 25mpw.

Your 800 is pretty ballin for your first year running. Nothing to be ashamed of there.

Re: Time Progression
Ok well...
2006: 1 month of training, probably 35 mpw: 5k was 19:33
Didn't run until that winter when I trained for 2 weeks for an 8k, 45:48 (not your average 8k though, it was euro-style).
2007: started training again that spring for my first season of track!! Ran 1:03 for my first race (400) ever.
My first hurdle race was 19.7x, and the 300 hurdles were about 45.xx
At the end of the season I ran 58 for 400, 15.9 for hurdles, and 43.xx for 300 hurdles.
That summer I trained relatively hard (40-45 mpw) and ran the 4th of July 5k in 18:46. Then I ran a 2.05 race in 11:30, and then a 1 mile race in 4:55 (only mile I ever raced).
When XC began I was in pretty good shape. I ran 17:25 for 3 miles my first race. That was my first and last race in the 17's. My best was at conference when I ran 16:17.
2 weeks after that I had state, but I lost focus and form and had a head cold and ran 16:23 (my goal was 15:58). Needless to say I wasn't too happy.
That winter I ran the same 8k race in 32:11. Conditions where a lot better, even though I slipped twice .
Then track rolled around again and I didn't get a good winter base in because I sprained my ankle and had to save it so I could win state (and get 9th at Nats) for diving.
2008:Ran first race of the season 56.1 for 400. First hurdle race was 15.5, and first 300 hurdle race was 41.4. Ended up running 14.69 for 110, 39.87 for 300, and 52.1 for the 400. Good season.
Now here I am, with my first race of the summer coming up in 2 days, and I have high expectations. There you go.

Haven't been running for that long but here it goes:
1600
7th-
13:30 in gym class... and yes, I actually did "run" the whole thing
8th-
7:13 after putting in about 5 mpw lol (that's middle school track for ya )
9th-
7:10 in the fall in gym (hadn't run over the summer and didn't do XC)
6:10 in track on about 25 mpw
And before 9th grade I was too fat and lazy to run anything longer than a 1600... so yeah haha... don't have any other times to show the progression for
