Re: first meet tommorrow!!
I want to tell you a story. My PR for the mile used to be 5:08. My coach decided to put me in one of the indoor York tri-meets they had. Hoffman Estates was there in case you were wondering. Anyway I started to race, first lap 68 sec, really fast for me. (This was one a 200 meter track so 2 laps was actually one). Second lap was a 72, where I slowed down a bit due to be boxed in and a little fatigued. Third lap was brutal, I was weak and I ran a 75 and I died near the end to a 77. My time came out to be a 4:52 and I was in seventh place.
My point here is its very important to start quick, but be careful not to get boxed in. IMO the most important thing is too finish the last 2 laps STRONG!! The next time I run the mile, I will tell myself to run this strong and fast because the faster you finish the faster the pain in your legs and lungs wll go away. Tell yourself this and expect to pr.

^^It's only the beginning of the season and that is an amazing time for an eighth grader. Good Luck this season!

Re: first meet tommorrow!!
Your only in 8th and you ran a 6:01? Thats really good. If you are this close at the begining of the season you should be breaking by a good bit at the end. Keep at it =)
