Eating healthier is never, ever a bad idea.
It should help your running, because I know it helps mine.
And if nothing else, you will feel better in general.

i think that you should focus on eating healthier instead of losing weight. just try to make good choices in what you eat (lots of veggies+fruits, watch for saturated fats, don't eat a lot of junk food) instead of the amount. if you're running you're probably at a healthy weight and don't need to lose any weight. it might make you faster for a few months, but in the long run if you lose too much you'll end up messing up your running entirely. (google female athlete triad/amenorrhea, i think the results will answer a lot of your question) plus concentrating too much on losing weight can take the fun out of running, and it's really easy to get wrapped up in it and be in a bad place mentally/physically. little things do help, and eating healthy makes a difference in how you feel when you run. but you're also young and you run, so you don't need to stress about eating/weight. my theory is that if you run and eat healthy whatever weight you don't need kind of falls off.

so basically eating healthy is good for your running, eating too little and trying to lose weight when you don't need to is really bad. i can give you more advice/helpful article links if you want, but i hope this answers part of your question. it's kind of funny- i just talked about eating today with my coach.

I still don't get enough veggies.

Vegetables are usually the hardest thing to work into a diet of any kind. My suggestion is to have some baby carrots and sliced cucumber as a "side" when having dinner. Salads are a always, good, but a bit more time consuming to make.

yeah, i agree with what hannah said.
at our age it's not really about 'losing weight'. it's more about just making good, healthy choices.

and about the fruits and veggies thing,
same here. during the winter especially, I never get as much fruit and veggies in my meals as i would like. pluss, fresh fruit tastes sooo gooood.
during the summer, i get lots of it because we grow tomatoes, potatoes, peas, beans, squash, lettuce, spinach, 3 kinds of peppers, blueberries, raspberries, and apples. jeez, that list makes me miss summer 1000x more.
oo and a pumpkin patch, haha but i don't eat those.

We have a garden too. So in the summer and fall I eat a ton of veggies but come winter and spring I hardly eat any.

i definitly dont eeat enuf veggies/fruits. i have brocolli with my dinner every night, cuz i never eat any vegetables otherwise. i dont really like it, but i force it down cuz its good for me lol. sometimes i'll have carrots and celery as well.

i've been at the same weight for alooong time, and the only time i lose weight is when im taking a break from running or injured (so i cant run). but i really wouldnt worry about losing weight if i were u.

my performance suffered when i was underweight.
I'm 20 lbs heavier, no one can even tell (most of it is muscle), and i feel so much stronger. When I eat healthy, it makes me feel good too.

I don't want to tell you whether or not you should lose weight, cause i don't know you. But just from my experience, it didn't really work out.

I agree with the others, eat healthy foods (:

You could also incorporate the vegetables right into the actual dinner, in addition to having them on the side. You could have something like chicken with cooked carrots. This way it becomes easier to get the required amount by making it something you don't choose to have or not to have, the vegetables are just there

I just hate winter in general, I eat soo much healthier in the summer because fruit and vegetables are 10 times more fresh and accesible. And oviously I run better in the summer and spring because I dont have to deal with all the snow and icy roads
