I can't seem to push myself out the door anymore. It's cold, windy, snowy, icy, and after 8 hours of school all I wanna do is relax. I need help. I realize that if this continues as it has since my offseason started on october 25th, i will be a terrible runner. i have run 4miles a day about 3 days a week for two weeks. now i need some help. how much worse am i? how long will it take to get back to where i was?

Re: Desperate for Winter Motivation.
You should be fine right now, just start doing something different. Run faster or longer, get out of your comfort zone and you'll want to run more.

Re: Desperate for Winter Motivation.
You have forever until outdoor so just start building up slowly. You might not be as fast as you were at the end of this xc season until track starts because you shouldn't be running fast right now. This is base, go slow and long.

Get some warm clothes, some friends, and just go have a fun run.
Play in the snow or something on your run.

Re: Desperate for Winter Motivation.
I finally pushed my self out the door today for my first run in a month and a half. I had run through half of october but then something funky happened to my knee so I stopped and just never started again until today. And what a day I picked, it was basically blizzarding out lol, but that made the park I ran at really pretty with all the snow sticking to the trees and such.
Anyways, you just have to remember that once track starts, you'll be lightyears ahead of all those people who were lazy and did nothing all off-season. That's what I was thinking when I decided to just suck it up.
Also, another thing that motivates me is a good friend of mine that just started running a year ago and is already one of the best in the state. She got 4th at AA state for CC and has a chance at first in the 2 mile this year, and she's extremely dedicated and makes me want to go out and run too. Kinda makes me jealous too because she did 0 running before her Freshman track season and now she's a Sophomore placing 4th at state /sigh...lol
Girls must have it easier or something =P

Re: Desperate for Winter Motivation.
During the off season, especially in the winter, I seem to run more and be a lot more motivated. I guess it's the whole being coached thing I don't like lol.
What sometimes helps me is to think about how much better you'll be, or give yourself a reward for running when you get back home. Well, there's my two cents.

Re: Desperate for Winter Motivation.
heyy now...it's okay.
i think, that once you get out there...and do one nicce not too hard run you might just want to go again the next day.
maybe you're burnt out...?
and like, other people said...you can find a group/friends to run with
if i was there, i would motivate you to run!
