I skipped track in the spring to build a huge base? I mean if I skipped track would I be better at CC the next year than if I did do track? I've found that mileage works and I want to peak huge come Frosh year.

I would do track. You don't need a 6 month base for a 5k.

If you want to, go for it. I'm assuming you're on the middle school team, so it would definitely be a good idea. Lots of anaerobic workouts in MS is not only horrible for your health, but it will make you slower down the road. Develop your aerobic capacity and you'll start out your HS career with a great season.

Do track but maybe take it easier or do a different event.

I say skip track. It will work just as long as you take off your two weeks after the track season WOULD have been over for you, and you don't push too hard while trying to log all of those miles.

Why not do track? Training lays the foundation for everything, but racing is why you do the training. Most athletes peak more than once a year. You'll be fine.
And HXC, every run you do has an anaerobic and aerobic component. Most intervals focus on aerobic systems. It is not anaerobic work that is unhealthy, it is any work that is too stressful. This usually means long intervals that focus on aerobic systems.
