The Olympics
Someone explain to me all the hostility towards other countries in the Olympics. Some people just haven't actually looked at symbol of the Olympics. How can we justify cheering or applauding another countries efforts unAmerican? And on the same token, how can we at the same time root for men who are not even American born who just so happen to run for America. Are we not all one species? It seems very hypocritical that we can jeer a man for being from another country and turn around and cheer for him when he runs for America. Lets celebrate the Olympics for what it is. We are all proud of our country, but we do have some sportsmanship left.

The reason i tend to only cheer for America is because those r the athletes that i actually know and a few non american athletes.I also cheer for trinidad cuz thats where im from.

WTF are you talking about? We cheer for our country, not against all the other ones, how can you need someone to explain that.CT Track wrote:Someone explain to me all the hostility towards other countries in the Olympics. same here, but there is a certian pride that comes with knowing that our country did something great.
there is also a different pride that comes with watching other countries win because they are human, and so are we

In england we were all routing for phelps and also, can I just say, I love the way the americans show the medal table for how many medals they have
Every other country in the world does it by how many golds you have.
Anyway I have London 2012 to look forward to, good luck with atlanta 2016 is it?
haha isnt it done on continents? and i know theres 7 so a colour from every continent with some overlapping or something?

Re: The Olympics
It would be incredible, never showing anything "elite" in high school and making an olympic team
but to the OP, I tend to cheer for the Americans but i love the stories or 'olympic moments' if you will...I have no problem cheering for a rival country if something about that athlete appeals to me.

I wish the summer olympics could be held in vancouver instead of the winter. Winter is soo boring
