Re: Dumbest rules in school
A lot of people used to bring vodka in water bottles into school, so the school saw it as a way to make money. They made a rule that the only water bottles you could have in school was a bottle sold by the school. As if nobody would be smart enough to take the water bottle home, fill it with booze, and bring it back to school. Every time I ask the principal or assistant principal how the water bottles will help stop people from brining in vodka they're just like "Well, um, it's clear. And we can see what's in it." Like there are no other clear water bottles in the world.

Our school did this as well.
Nevermind that rakija is clear too (no matter that you can smell it from a mile away) If anything, there was more drinking after the rule was instituted.

Re: Dumbest rules in school
no one does that at my school. only a freshman or 2 thinking they are cool will do it but nobody cares. the only people that bring water are the runners and we get crap for it because no one cares about running especially the football players.

NotChangingUntilSub5 wrote:lol@ur retarded schools.
The only rule I think is stupid is at pep rallies we can't yell "SIT DOWN FRESHMAN" or we get in trouble.
haha, yeah, we have that problem too. Basically now we're not allowed to yell anything at anyone because they want to "promote school unity" yeah, that's a joke.
anyway, some of these people have already said...
But other rules: No waterbottels... makes it very difficult to stay hydrated for running.
No talking or eating in library... ok, but shouldn't whispering be allowed?? because it isn't. And a lot of people do homework in there during lunch, shouldn't they get to eat?
No gum chewing. But I guess I can see that they don't want the bottom of every desk plastered with gum... so I'm also really mad at the people who are too lazy to just walk over to the trash can.
No Patterned socks--my school has a uniform and girls have to wear knee socks w/ skirts, but they have to be a solid color, no patterns. But, actually this is changing this year because basically all the girls in the school signed a petition to let us wear patterned socks... because the boys get to wear ties w/ patterns/writing/whatever they want, so why can't we do that with socks? But this year we can !!! Yay. I need to go shopping, haha
No tank tops on dress down days. This is soo stupid... not just spaghetti straps, but anything that doesn't have sleeves. Sooo stupid.
No shorts that don't come w/in 2 inches of the knee on dress down days. This includes running shorts. A girl on our XC team wore running shorts to school on a dress down day and she got a detention for it. They weren't even that short.
LUckily we don't have hall passes... you just have to ask the teacher to go somewhere... actually freshman year I had a teacher who didn't care if we asked... we could just get up and leave. But he was also really mean/strict, so no one took advantage of the rule.

Re: Dumbest rules in school
Last year my school was a big square and there were monitors stationed at every corner so they were always watching.
And why can't you guys keep a water bottle in your locker and drink it when you stop? That's what I do and it works fine.

That's what I usually do... But sometimes I sort of forget that I"m thirsty between classes... because I'm usually almost late for class anyway so I'm in a hurry and then I get to class and realize I forgot to get a drink because Im thirsty... well, that's probably a dumb excuse, but it's true for me...

Re: Dumbest rules in school
They just changed our gpa so it's not weighted anymore. Which makes me mad
Oh we can't take food out of the lunchroom which is stupid since the kids in choir have a really short lunch so when we have shakes we can't take them with us and drink them in the hallway. And we can't wear street shoes on the basketball court otherwise we get in trouble.

Our seniors have so many privileges it's crazy. I'm pretty sure a senior could shit in the middle of the hallway and a freshmen would have to clean it up.

thats just like my best friend.. she is oh so classy, she talks about peeing all the time liike one time she just blurted out "I GOTTA TAKE A PISS" yeah I'm proud I know her.
anyways I thought of another one, you get academic detentions, if you have over 2 missing assignments in a class you get a detention. I've never had one, yet..but sometimes teachers screw up and you get a detention..Its retarded.

The perfect excuse for being late is "I was taking a dump". The teachers never know how to respond, and it'd be really awkward to give you detention.

why would you want to do that. if teachers think that kids are doing that then they need to check and get them in trouble it will get rid of that problem fast.

Re: Dumbest rules in school
Just started this year- As soon as the bell rings teachers must close and lock their doors, if you try to come in after this you must first take your agenda to the office to be scanned (which have your barcode in them to identify you-remind anyone of the holcaust?) and then you may return to class with a pass. If you take more than 5 minutes you must go back, and take another tardy. 2 tardys is a detention 3 tardies is 2 detentions 4 is saturday school, it leads to ISS..this is SO dumb. it has kids running around like maniacs to get to class

Rank has it's privileges. . .
We have 2 minutes to get from one class to the next. It sounds really bad, but it isn't THAT bad, considering how small our school is. If you have to use the washroom though you're screwed.
Also, the only room with A/C is the principals office. We asked him about it once, and he claims he asked every single teacher about it, and none wanted it (loud, bulky) so he reluctantly took it.
Our computer lab is basically a sauna. We had oldschool macs for a while which were basically space heaters. Legend has it that one winter day, they were putting off so much heat, and there were so many little kids in there that the thermometer hit 40c (104f) WITH THE WINDOWS OPEN. They were also such terrible computers. If you hit the 'help' button, they crashed. Once during a computer exam my friend accidentally hit the help button 4 times, so he had to restart his exam each time.

Why would a school EVER make that rule.
FJDSKFJSDKLFS it just makes me SOO mad to think that we spend so much of our lives at school and they take advantage of their "authority" by making every stupid RULE they can think of..a lot of which don't even help to better the "learning environment."
