hall passes really don't have any purpose but to allow teachers to yell at us for not having one.
Ill come up with more later on.

Re: Dumbest rules in school
Socks must be visible at all times. The administration only allows crew length socks or higher, so I can't wear any of my ultra comfortable running socks.
No kippahs. My 6th grade year, an orthodox jewish kid wore his kippah to school, and a teacher cited it for being in violation of the no hat rule. The school since changed the policy after the kid's dad, a lawyer, threatened my school since it was in violation of religious freedoms.
No tank tops or spaggetti straps. Try telling this to california girls.
All shorts must come within one inch of the knee. So no booty shorts.
No gang related attire. Interprited to mean that headbands with little scarves means you are running with the crips.

Re: Dumbest rules in school
hmm how we cant cut through certain areas.
Example: our hs is next to the elementry school and our gym is on the other side of that. Instead of just cutting through our principal makes us walk all the way around. Its cool unless its raining but mostly it makes me late for gym. so basically you have to sprint to gym in order to be on time.
We explain it to our teacher but, well its a pe teacher
OH and our principal also stopped letting us use this second set of stairs which is half inside half out.. by doing that it clogged up the halls to the point its litterally a stand-still. That also makes me late.
thats probably all just my school though.

Having to show up for the classes you're in drives me insane.
I hate that some teachers don't let you have a water bottle in class

No public. I live in an area that's super republican, and community as a whole does not like jews that much. Lot more antisemitism here than in other places.and thats weird about the kippah thing, we have a kid who wears his and its no biggie. You must go to a private school?

we had that rule. until we had problems with it like my freshman year. we had like one or 2 tuesday races and had teachers telling us we couldnt have our water with us. we talked to the principal and that rule has since been changed. it just has to be in a clear bottle.
no holy jeans is one of our stupid ones. i can understand huge holes or holes above the dress code region for shorts. but even if you have fray you get yelled at.
length of shorts has to be to fingertips. i dont wear shorts because it has to be close to my knees and you cant find shorts that long.. i got in trouble for a skirt that was long enough also. because i was an office aid the ast. principal made me stand up and after she saw it was long enough she told me not to wear it anymore. how is that even fair.
im sure ill think of more.

Re: Dumbest rules in school
all sweatshirts have to have the school logo.
so they have an order form once a year.
so okay I buy a grey one from the school. well actually it was part of my christmas present.
then they announce: all sweatshirts must be blue with a school logo.
so any kids who didn't buy a blue one on their once a year chance, freeze.
(because they set the temp to 68 year round.)

Re: Dumbest rules in school
No cellphones (this one is broken ridiculously)
No iPods outside of the grade 12 lounge or afterschool while doing schoolwork.
We have a uniform, but every year they crack down for the first couple weeks then slack off. It's almost laughable how it always happens.
Our school is pretty reasonable when it comes to rules, especially when you're a pretty good kid like me. I don't think I ever had a teacher hassle me about my uniform since about grade 8, even though I broke some of the rules on a regular basis.

No air conditioning except in the office and library. Not really a rule but it gets really hot when you have as many kids as we do.

Re: Dumbest rules in school
At the end of the year they removed ALL hall passes. If you had to pee you had to wait. Totally sucked. We had a kid in my last hour class start crying because she had to go so badly and it was starting to hurt...we lost a lot of respect in a way for that teacher because she wouldn't let her go.
Only Juniors & Seniors can leave campus at lunch. Rule was Freshmen-Seniors but then changed when I got in High School. grr! lol
One rule that sucks if you are in sports is if you are tardy with a pass like you had a doctor's appt. or even just weren't feeling good but your parents or doctor wrote you a note, you aren't allowed to go to practice or if there is a game or meet you aren't allowed to go. Pretty much sucks.

my school doesnt really have any unreasonable rules, but the one that bugs me the most is not being able to eat in the library.

The only rule I think is stupid is at pep rallies we can't yell "SIT DOWN FRESHMAN" or we get in trouble.

Same here, except we like "GO HOME FRESHMAN" better. When I was a freshman, people threw batteries, set of firecrackers under the stairs, etc. But now we have a bunch of "cops" at every pep rally, and so only the really gutsy kids do anything.
We can't wear certain colors or shirts with snowmen on them. (OMG ur on CRACK ur shirt haz a snowman on it!!1!)
If you are late for school, no matter the reason, you can't go to practice that day.
No tanktops, only t-shirts (basically, a tanktop is a bs excuse for them to get you in trouble, because they don't enforce it unless they're ticked off about something).

haha once at my sophomore year pep rally, we'd boo at the freshmen for coming in the gym. After that incident if anyone didn't cheer or say something else they would be suspended.

at graduation night, my friend's class did the chicken dance with the principal and she thought they were singing this to her: " i dont wanna be a chicken. i dont wanna be a duck, so kiss my butt." and the whole class had to write apology letters to the principal and parents.

Re: Dumbest rules in school
we can only go to the bathroom three times a year in each period which is very difficult cuz i always have to go the same periods every day because i drink a ton of water. usually i just say you don't want me to pee my pants in front of you.
nothing else is really bad--my school is pretty relaxed you can goof around a lot if teachers like you..you can basically do what ever you want. i've skipped class and gotten caught and didn't even get in trouble at all.
