+1, to everyone saying that it's unfair because swimming is easier to get multiple medals in, then why hasn't anyone gotten 8 medals in swimming before? He's doing something respectable that nobody else has ever done, unlike Dean Karnazes who jogs around like a retard all day and calls himself a hero.

And Mrs. Phelps does not get more attention than Michael. She gets all the attention she deserves. I'm sure she's done a lot for Michael to help him get to where he is today. And if your son became the greatest Olympian of all-time, wouldn't you want a little publicity?

In an SI article it said that he used to swim 3 miles for time as a sem-regular workout, but now he was too old and tired for that.
