We were playing Chebucto out in the old Sprydome. Anyway, we're tied 1-1 with about 8 minutes left in the 3rd period. We get a 3 on 1, and my buddy Jordan is going hard to the net, and the other guy on our line passed him the puck, but it was a bit ahead of him. Jordan looses an edge and goes feet-first into the boards at full speed. Next thing I know, he's yelling at the reff to blow the wistle. "Fuck, my leg is broken, I think I broke my Femur!" Anyway, we call the ambulance, and it turns out he's got a compound fracture of his Femur (when the bone is STICKING OUT of the skin).

He'll be ok, he's really lucky he didn't hit an artery, which would have been big trouble. But he won't be walking anytime soon, and his season is done. Just a sobering thought about how shit can happen to anyone of us at any time.

Yeah, basically it's club hockey. It's a minor junior teams, ages 18-20. It's not too serious, but more serious than intermurals. Jordan was one of our 20 year olds.

You want pics? Warning, this is very graphic. that's what I got when I googled compound femur fracture. I don't think it's all that off the mark of what he had.

We had a kid in our gym class break his femur. He made a real sudden stop during a game of tag or something and it just snapped!
They called the ambulance because it was sticking out too...
Poor kid had SUPER weak bones... #1 reason to drink your milk.

We had a football player break his femur last year. And my grandpa broke is fibula and tibia this fall. I can't even imagine how much it would hurt to break your femur.
