RWS - what do you manily do in training? Tempos? What's your opinion on two-a-days?

    1) some of my tempos are long. some are on hilly hiking trails hence the 30 second pace range.
    2) 6:30 isn't a tempo in any way? Some people can't even race a mile in 6:30

Sourworms and RB: 6:00 -6:30's are tempo runs. The last five mile practice run I ran was around a 6:20 pace (it was in the mountains but you fly on the downhill)

XC_Love_518: Yes I mainly do tempos but that might not work for you like it does me. I don't do two adays because I don't want to get hurt. I always thought 1 good workout is better than two ok ones.

I'm pretty sure he means for someone like you who has a 16:58 5k. Your tempos should be at like 5:45-6:00. 6:30 would be a tempo for someone like me.

well i think because im in the base phase right now i'm currently more like a 17:30 5k runner, so Daniels would put my pace for a 20 minute tempo run on the track at 6:05. when you consider that I don't run my tempos on the track, and that they are often more than 20 minutes, my paces aren't bad. i think sourworms doesn't understand that a tempo is not supposed to be a hard workout, more like medium/hard.

I do all my runs at 6:30 pace...its definitely not tempo pace. tempo's are usually around 2-5 miles at 5:15-6:00 (for me at least of course it goes faster if your faster than me)
