    I'm bored so...
    what are your favorite workouts?
like fun workouts, or really hard but satisfying to complete workouts
track or xc or just random other workouts that you've done

    My favorites:

    Track
    8x200
    4x400
    2x800
    1x1600
    2x800
    4x400
    8x200
(hardest workout I've ever done but it felt amazing to have actually finished it)

    XC
    8 miles at 7:30 pace
(sometimes we do this during track too, but it's more of an xc thing and it's so much fun Very Happy)

Neither of those are good workouts. Way to many intervals. Easy rule is if you running more than 4 miles on the track, it isn't a speed workout anymore.

    I like 10x400m w/ 1:30 rest.

I like stadium stairs, 500's, relay work, triple jumping. I basically like everything because I give it my all and the after feeling is awesome.

Mile repeats at 5km race pace (or faster) on the road. After 3 or 4 of these I am dead but I feel good afterwards

Heres a true mental workout for the real men. You people who asked me how I got so good. At the line at regions I was probably the 7th most fit guy there but, I trained so hard and mentally prepared myself that I beat them all. This is a workout that will test your limits.
Find a 12 mile long run.
Run the first two miles at race pace get that point and you still have 10 miles left of the hardest mental thing you have gone through.
So in a race you get to the two mile marker at your hardest and your like "hey i've done 10 more miles when i'm like this 1 mile is easy". You think i'm crazy but try it and trust me it works the mentally prepared guy owns the fit guy.

6- 800 supersets. The first 200 of the 800 is at 400 pace. The next 500 is at 2 mile pace. The last 100 is all out, like kicking at the end of a race. Then 800 jog recovery. It's pretty hard.

if you actually went 100% for the first 2 miles you would be physically unable to continue for 10 more miles without stopping. at the very least I wouldn't be able to run for about 5-10 minutes before clearing the waste from my legs.

it's still a bad workout. mental toughness means nothing compared to conditioning. you can't grit your teeth and run a 15 minute 5k. It's comes down to your leg strength, economy/efficiency, vo2, lactate threshold, etc. kicking at the end of a race when you're tired can take some fortitude but you're really overestimating the importance of toughness.

We do that during XC. We run 8-14 400s w/ the 1:30 rest. The only extra thing is we do them at our end of the year goal time pace so that we can learn what that pace truly feels like.
    -----
I love doing sprints in the halls after school when it's too snowy/cold to go outside.
One day it was "Make Coach Puke Day" and we ended up going and doing 55x60m. Very Happy
It was a TON of fun...kinda. I was the only one to do more than 40 and I did them really hard beating everyone, every time, until the last 5 my coach started to barely beat me.
