So I just got back from the University of Wisconsin-Madison XC Camp of Champions and it was pretty great. This is one of the top camps in the nation (Finnerty attended last year). I got put in a pretty low mileage training group (we did around 35 miles during the week, but I guess it was only 4 real days), but I treated it as a pretty easy week. We went over a bit of basic physiology stuff and they taped our running form and reviewed it with us. It was pretty informative. There were a bunch of crazy fast people, including one kid who came in 18th at Footlocker and a 4:18/4:19 (not sure) Freshman miler.
The first night we got to watch Tegenkamp, Solinsky, and 2 other guys run a 1500. Teg went 3:38, I think. It was awesome. They let us sit in all but 3 lanes of the track to cheer on the runners. It also gave me a chance to check out the victories up close. We also had a tournament game of ultimate every night. Our team went undefeated.
I would highly recommend this camp. You get to meet a lot of cool people and get training advice from college coaches. I did get a little annoyed by all of the people throwing around frisbees ALL FUCKING DAY, but that was a small draw-back.
Spark notes: I went to camp. 'Twas the sh1tz0r.
