Webb utterly owned him in the 2007-2008 track seasons, yet Lagat got lucky for the world championships. Webb has faster prs that Lagat and overall is a faster runner, yet Lagat beats him at the end of the year or season at the championships or in this case the olympic qualifiers.
I also feel its the same way with other runners, such as Craig Mottram. Craig Mottram has faster prs in the 5000, 3000, and 2 mile, and has a pr only one second off lagats for the mile. He is a faster runner than Lagat, but Lagat just seems to get lucky in races like the mile at the millrose games every year, last years 2007 Osaka Champions, and this years pre classic.
Sorry for my long rant but I really don't think Lagat deserves all the races he wins
lagat is a FAR better tactical runner that either webb or mottram. the point of races is to win, and he does that in the best way for him. sit, sit, sit, kick.
and being faster at the end of the season is called peaking. which is a good thing. a very good thing.
every race he won is a race that he deserved to win.
right. he doesn't win because he's lucky. he works hard, runs hard, and races to win. good for webb that he owned a past season, but he couldn't get the job done when it came to crunch time.
