lagat is a FAR better tactical runner that either webb or mottram. the point of races is to win, and he does that in the best way for him. sit, sit, sit, kick.

and being faster at the end of the season is called peaking. which is a good thing. a very good thing.

every race he won is a race that he deserved to win.

Lagat wasn't faster at the end of the year though. His times when he wins these big races aren't even that good. For example, at Osaka, he got 3:35 and 13:45. Those times are bad even for him. Also, he got 8:14 for the 2 mile at the pre classic and 3:40 for the olympic trials. Peaking at the end of the season means that you speed up. Lagat is just always consistent with his times that are slower than other runners (like Webb and Mottram) all year. I say he is lucky because he runs the same way and time when it comes down to "crunch time," and wins, while the other runners just happen to have a bad day.

if you think lagat has won a crazy amount of big invitationals, olympic medals, and world championships, by getting lucky, then you're the most ignorant person i've ever argued about running with.
