This leaves me with 7-8+ months till track. Should I even be thinking about track at this time?
If so, how should I divide up my training for such a long time period?
If not, what do you suggest I do?
400m runners don't need to do XC.BA_Sadie. wrote:we have a guy at a school beside us whos really good and just trains for track all year round. he won the 400 state for d2 in 47.?..hes really good.
i'd just say that don't be dumb with your training don't get excited and run to much at the beginning with all that time just kind of get into it slowly and basically do a base until winter maybe do a couple meets here and there but get a killer base then start really training during winter with more speed workouts and that type of stuff. Just what i would do idk though...i would be very motivational deprived to not do xc
(that doesn't make sense but i think you can figure out what i mean lol.)

It got you running, but if you did 400m work in the fall instead of XC you would've been even faster in the 400m.BagoXC25 wrote:Germany4Euro08 wrote:400m runners don't need to do XC.
Not like it helped me PR by 3 seconds in my first indoor meet or anything .
If you're training for 400m, you could just peak at that like you would in XC and then use the fitness later on in indoor and outdoor. It's no different.PCNQtrack wrote:But he could have peaked too soon and had a crappy outdoor if he did that
+1, sprinters can peak in fitness too.Germany4Euro08 wrote:If you're training for 400m, you could just peak at that like you would in XC and then use the fitness later on in indoor and outdoor.
