So, I have been with this trainer all winter, getting ready for my first season of track! I feel so strong and amazing! Anyway, he wants me to do a mile time trail this Saturday(Track starts Monday) and I am so nervous. He tells me not to be, but I am anyway. I have been working my butt off and I'm hoping to get a 5:50...do you think it is possible? I really hope so. Oh, and please, I'll take any advice you can give me for running the mile!

Lap 1- Get out there and then settle into a good fast pace
Lap 2- Keep that good fast pace.
Lap 3- Start to pick it up your almost done. This is a important lap and can deside between victory and failure.
Lap 4- What do you think you should do?

If it's not on the track and you have no one to run against I wouldn't put too much stock into it. Having competition and running on a surface designed for running makes a huge difference.

First 1/4 - Get out there and then settle into a good fast pace
Second 1/4 - Keep that good fast pace.
Third 1/4 - Start to pick it up your almost done. This is a important lap and can deside between victory and failure.
Forth 1/4 - What do you think you should do?
