    sick...advice? Empty sick...advice?

Post by thenextdeena Sun Feb 08, 2009 11:42 am

so, friday morning (12-4 am) I was sick about 7 times. The rest of friday I slept, and yesterday I tried running, but could only physically do a mile. My question is, should I try running today,or, should I just wait till monday? I have track on tuesday and I want to have a good workout then but I don't want my mileage to be so little this week compared to last.

take it easy, your body is stressed, and running only makes it worse. taking a couple of days off is not going to hurt your training.

It depends. If you just had food poisoning or something, you should be good for today, especially if you've gotten your strength back and gotten your glycogen stores back. If you have something worse like the stomach flu that lasts longer, I'd say don't run at all before tuesday because your body needs rest.

There is a rule my coach once told me: Above the neck go and wreck, if its below stay at home

This is a strange saying but it means that if the infection is in centered in the mid section like the lungs then don't go but if its just a headache or something go ahead

here's a less awkward ryme. If it's above the neck, hit the deck. If it's below, lay low.

running will not do a thing for you while you are weak. take a couple of days off and get healthy again.
