Class Rings? Varsity Jackets?

I was just wondering how many of you guys on here get these & what are your opinions of them....& what other High School type things are offered at your school. These are all we have really...
I'm ordering my Class Ring tomorrow so it was on my mind...my mom's paying for it as a Late Christmas gift & then I'm buying my Varsity Jacket this summer.

I had my varsity jacket since freshmen year. I don't plan on getting a class ring.

Why are you getting a class ring if you're only a sophomore?
I'm getting my varsity academic decathlon sweatshirt, in a few days, but I have to wait until sophomore year to be eligible to receive my letterman's jacket in it.

we have both but no one at my school really buys them. i don't like letterman jackets really so i'm not getting one. especially since ours are purple. i might get a class ring idk.

I dont really like either.

I think paying $800 for a coat is kinda lame, I can buy so many other coats with that money..haha and the rings are ugly.

Here we get leavers hoodies. They are pretty awesome, for $80 (like $40 US) you get this hoodie which a student from your year designed, and you get to print your nicknames on it, they're great. So when you're a 70 year old fossil, you can get it out and say 'I remember back at school, when my mates used to call me that!'.

It's just when our school does them is all.
& I'm excited to get my Varsity Jacket. Our Athletic Director is getting us some good deal...only $80 jackets...but thne embroidery will be another $70.

i already have my lettermans jacket, and i decided not to get a class ring my sophmore year.

How are you only a soph if your 16?

most people turn 16 sophomore year, i'm not sure if it's the same in canada. but i think he's a junior (judging by his class) and was saying that last year he chose not to get a class ring.

I completely agree. I doubt they are 800 dolars though.

yeah i agree too. they're like ridiculously expensive. I was thinking they wouldn't be that much but when i looked into it they were like $350. not worth it imo

and I will get a jacket too eventually. I really want one because I hear they're really warm haha

Ive had my letter jacket since mid freshman year. I wear it a decent amount now but I didnt like wearing it freshman year because no one else had one yet! Haha, ironic. But I didnt get a class ring because I know I wont wear it that much anyway. But our jackets aren't cheap they are something like $300

yeah, I asked my friend since she just got her's, and she paid 450 and another 90 for the fancy patch thingys on the back. Its so dumb.

A class ring is a ring with the year you graduate high school on it.

A varsity jacket for my school is a hoodie sweatshirt that says your name or nickname on it, your sport, and that you're on varsity.
I assume the OP is talking about a letterman's jacket, which for my school is a jacket that says you are in the top 7 or 3 depending on if you do a sport or academic competition, when she refers to varsity jacket.

Letterman's Jacket

we dont really have letterman jackets at our school. each sport has its own hoodie, and the top x amount of ppl get one. for xc its top 7, so i got mine this year. was cheap, like $30 USD. all it is, is a dark navy blue hoodie. on the front it says, HKIS Cross Country, the CC with the arrow thorugh it, and 2008. on the back, it has my last name.

and im planning on getting a class ring during my senior year. i dont know how much they cost, but if they're like crazy expensive i prolly wont get one

Kinda the same thing here. My mom says that she wants all of her kids to have a class ring even though she knows that after High School we'll rarely wear it.

Wow. I'm getting a varsity jacket soon and ours are only around $100something. They are really, really nice though and worth it.
No class ring for me though. I'd just lose it.

I'm not getting a class ring whenever they offer them. If I make varsity next year I'll decide if I want the jacket.
