Running On Black Ice Empty Running On Black Ice

Post by Jacked Fibraz Wed Dec 31, 2008 9:01 pm

So i attempted my 50 minute easy run about 5 minutes ago... and it didn't go so well. Crying or Very sad The moment i step out of my door, i see that the entire side walk is covered with black ice.... i almost fell down 3 times just trying to walk out of my front door. So i take about 5 strides on the sidewalk and see that it is impossible to run on. I was slipping like crazy and couldn't even stand up without falling over since the black ice basically covered everything!! So i decide to run on the grass part of the sidewalk, where the people shovel their snow onto which is 2 to 3 feet deep... and.... the "snow" isn't really even snow anymore since it crunches and cracks like its frozen... . I run on the grass part of the sidewalk for about 30 seconds before i start thinking that i should just stop because i have to lift my legs incredibly high just to get over the 2 feet of frozen snow... i turn back and start walking back home after no more than a minute of running....

So... what should i do guys??? Its kind of impossible to run outside... Is going to a gym and using a threadmill my only option?? BTW the snow wasn't too bad a few days ago... there was a snow storm and there was 3 feet of fresh snow then it melted... and froze overnight.... and now the sidewalks are covered with black ice....

run on the side of the road, most people driving will be understanding and move over, and if not challenge them to a fight, beat them up, and continue on your run

I had the same prob except it was only about 1ft of the crunchy snow(it made the whole in my shoe bigger)

I kept up the run but i eventually got to a park that they shoveled

Black ice is frozen ice that doesn't have many air bubbles trapped inside, making it transparent. it takes the colour of the surface its frozen on so you basically can't see it which is why they call it "black" ice, but its actually not black. You can tell that there is black ice on the ground if the sun is shining on it which causes that area covered with the ice to have a wet appearance which is caused by the sun light reflecting off of it Very Happy horse run
