Finding a Job Empty Finding a Job

Post by Push Towards State Sun Oct 12, 2008 1:52 pm

I've been tryin to look for a job for a while now. Last summer I applied to 8 diffrent stores online and i never got a call or anything. I really want a job because the parents don't give me much money. Just $20 bucks a week for lunch. Thats not enough for 4 days! Where should i apply besides fast food resturants? confused

grocery stores, mall stores (like pacsun, zumiez, or if you want to kill yourself hollister and aeropostale..haha) because they would most likely hire teenagers. Target or like a walmart... try target first.

I'm getting a mcjob this spring/summer =[ They work really well with sports so I have no choice.

why not fast food?? you dont have to eat it.

DO NOT APPLY ONLINE! The only way they'll hire you is if you apply in person...also call back even if you dont get a reply yourself.

find a local business/restaurant to apply to. lik TnF_T said don't apply online. go inside and ask for an application. Then after about a week go back in when you know the manager will be there and ask politely...not pushy! if they've seen your application... this works well if when you passed in the appication you passed it in to someone other than the manager because then you can pretend you're just making sure that they got it.

This is how I got my job... and I had to call back 3 times after I got my interview too. You have to show that you want the job.

Look don't believe that applying online won't get you a job. You won't get a job if you don't call them to see if they've reviewed your application. If you apply in person they'll just give you an application and they won't call you back either. You have to show some initiative and ask to speak to the hiring manager and ask if they have reviewed your application. It may seem like you're annoying and soliciting them, but it's what will get you a job and most managers won't mind.

I know at Giant and other grocery stores you have to be 16 to work up front (cashier, stock shelves) but 18 to work the back (ordering stuff, inventory, management). Which is reasonable because they don't want a kid to screw up stuff.

14 year olds can work here with parental consent and as long as they don't use certain machines (they can't work grill at mcdonalds for example, but they can work cash)

16 you can work anywhere that will take you.
