Slow race/ dead legs Empty Slow race/ dead legs

Post by XxcrosscountrygirlxX Thu Sep 18, 2008 9:03 pm

so, i've been running about 22:45 for the past few meets. then, yesterday i ran 24:15 and it felt really hard and my legs were dead. i ran 35 min today at about an 8:30 and it felt hard (usually that would be really easy). my coach says i've been doing too much speed because i'm a slow twitch muscle person, just wondering your opinion on what i've been doing wrong. my training schedule (been doing for about 3-4 weeks):
    monday: 4x400 @ 1:32 w/ 400 jog
    tuesday: 30 min easy
    wednesday: meet
    thursday: 30 min easy
    friday: 3 x 600 @ 2:20 w/ 600 jog
saturday: rest or 20 min easy
    sunday: 70 min

that happens to a lot of people when the training gets hard in the middle of the season. don't worry about it.

Don't do intervals twice a week. Try intergrating maybe a 5 mile tempo run in there.
