but whatever.
What makes a good XC captain?
yea captains IMO shouldn't neccessarily be the fastest, but they should work their butt off and be top 3, be mature when they need to be, and they need to have the respect of their team.runlikethawind wrote:definitley dedication
u shouldn't make someone a captain just cuz their a senior, especially if they haven't ran for four years, and think practice is a joke. if sum 1 ran all summer, and is actually willing to lead the team, that'd be some good qualities for a captian.
the captains on my team are slow, don't care, but their seniors so they're automatically captains, so whatev
wow that was long
ya, i wouldn't really agree with that.Kugar wrote:We have two captains this year--only one is in the top seven.
Both are seniors.
I can't say that I disagree with coach's decision, but I do know that there are other girls who would be better leaders. The two girls in question (captains) aren't particularly dedicated to the sport, but they are usually not distracting or destructive of the time we have together.
-shrug- I don't really care who's captain, as long as I get to run my race.

I agree with all but #5. If they're someone that everyone can look towards then does it really matter how fast they are? It truly shouldn't. The fastest girls on the team could be the most stuck-up and just use their title as a tool. On our team it's whoever does the top 4 things on that list gets to be a captain.
