OMG Finally 100 Empty OMG Finally 100

Post by DyingToRun Sun Aug 24, 2008 2:06 am

I have done it, I've finally convered 100 miles in a single week in a spam of 6 days (mind u this was done on doubles). The previous weeks b4 this I had hit 50 safely and did it through consistent increase, after working at the Orange County Fair was done (worked there from 5 PM- 11 PM for 3 weeks) and hiting 50 miles safely I thought it would be smart to restart training with the team since I had more free time and start doubling. The same week I rejoined, our top runner (his name is James) invited me to run with OCC (Orange Coast College) runners cause he had previously been training with them weeks before and I accually ran with them that week, that same week I hit 65 miles and found out by training with our team and the OCC runners James had hit 70+ miles a few times, by the time i found this out i had already hit 45 miles and decided WTH i'll bump my mileage and i hit 65 miles that week which i did safely. I decided to try 70 miles the next week and see how my body could handle the big jump of mileage and I did hit 70 miles and knew I could handle that type of mileage, I decided i'd try to hit 75 the week after as peak for my mileage of base training and because i had been increasing my milage usually by 5 miles per week which kept me safe from injury and 70 to 75 seemed reasonably safe, I also thought 75 miles would be good mileage considering, my team was going to Mammoth to train in altitude for 8 days and since I wasn't going, 75 miles would help me keep up with my team. OK so starting this week my goal was 75 miles done through doubles, I started off this week on monday (sunday is rest day) with 16 miles run in total for that day, Tuesday i hit 15 miles in total for that day, and Wensday i hit 14 miles, I was like ok i'm doing too much daily for a 75 mile week, should i drop my daily mileage or maintain what im doing and just gut out my mileage to 90 even though there was a high chance of getting injured, or maintain what i was doing but take friday and saturday easy and still hit 75, as this week continued on I decided dam i'll just try 90 miles with the thought in the back of my head that i still had a chance to cover 95 miles. Running Thursday with my 2 other teammates who also didn't go to camp in Mammoth I Decided WTH lets try 95 miles and that this week would be a make it or break it week. By friday i had already covered 79 and new that 95 miles was within my grasp, I told my sister and she's like y not go for 100 miles, I was like WTF thats insane i would have to cover 21 miles by saturday in one day ( can't run sunday its a rest day), Starting my run today in the moruning which was suppose to be a 9 miler I decided to take a alternate route and really gut it out to cover 100 miles meaning my 9 miler got extended to a 14 miler, this meant i had 7 miles to run as a PM run, and if i felt really bad i could still run 2 miles only to cover 95 miles, after running to OCC (2 miles away from my house), running 3 x 1 mile barefoot on there tracks grass and running back home (another 2 miles) I had finally accomplished a goal that I thought would seriously take me years to accomplish, I know some of you are like WTH i don't care but breaking into the 100 mile mark was one of my lifetime goals and i just felt like getting it out there, This is also pretty much the story of my summer. Either way i'm pooped and i'm out for the night so cya all tomarrow flower

I like running 100 miles per week almost as i like chewing on rusty nails, snorting anthrax, and mistaking windex for kool aid.

I'm just gonna take a guess that a few more 100 mile will either make you a great runner or completely destroy your running career.

lol i woke up today and in the back of my mind I wanted to see if I could put in another 15 miles today, but since its a rest day i was like, i need the rest xD.

coool! are you gonna drop the mileage back down this week?
of course lol it was already pretty stupid that I attempted 100 miles, its kinds weird but in the back of my mind i'm curious how much more i can accually cover. Mind u the only injury if it does count as a injury that i got out of this is slite shint splints.

yeha i'm happy its a rest day today and to make it better my team is coming back from Mammoth today

OMG affraid like i didn't know that, I can't believe its far worst then the majority of teens in my school who get fucked up on alcohol and drugs, like 80% of the seniors at grad night last year who were getting health benefits from taking Ecstacy(not sure if i spelled that right lol). I'd would go with middle then.. OH Cool

but 100 does seem like alot..especially when your just training for a 5k. I dunno but I wouldn't go higher then like 70.
