Re: Vegetarian
I couldn't live without meat. We just had steak tonight yum. I actually don't really know anyone who is vegetarian. But then again I live in a small town where ranching, farming, and oil are the big things here.

dyingtorun, are you a vegetarian because you think its wrong to eat animals? or are you doing it for like health reasons? or do you not like the taste of meat?
you dont have to answer if you dont want to, im just curious.
I started becoming vegetarian at first because I think its wrong to eat animals, after a while, I noticed my diet became far more stable then any other other diet i had before and i was able to put in more miles and feel way healthier, which gave me another reason to continue on, granted those are 2 reasons, there is also the other reason's i became vegetarian.
That world would be horrible. No BLTs. No thanksgiving day turkey. No seafood (unless your that kind that can eat clams and stuff because they don't have a face). No Big Macs.
Nope I don't eat animals period even if it doesn't have a face, I'm lacto-ovo-vegetarian meaning I still eat eggs and milk. but over all my diet is still pretty stable.
 Looks like i just singled myself out by creating this thread
looks like i'm the only veggie lover here

nope you can eat it. although they do use some sort of stuff between the skin and fat of a pig they purify it so many times that it isnt even counted as protien or meat what so ever. but its an ifish thing since its coming from an animal.

you know thats kinda crazy. you eat milk and eggs that come from animals and its a very miniscule amount probably. if your not going to eat jello because of that you might as well be vegan which is crazy.
as for me i cant give up my burgers. i dont like steak very much after getting sick from it.. but chicken i love as well. i tried a bocaburger. not my jazz but if i had to do it i guess i could deal with it.(shudders)

See I don't mind eating eggs and milk cause in no way is a animal being killed in the process. Cows need to be naturally milked and chicken will naturally lay eggs. For me gelatin is part of an animal, and an animal was most likely killed in the process to extract it, so me eating something with gelatin is eating a piece of a animal. And as a vegetarian we can't have that now can we?

I drink waaaaay to much milk, I really dont know what I would do without milk. I have like 4+ glasses a day and I like cheese ALOT. Becoming a vegan would be the death of me.lol
and no ice cream or yogurt or cottage cheese those people are just sick.
but what I dont get, cows need to be milked because it hurts them if they get too full. So why are vegans against that??

Re: Vegetarian
so how do you make sure you get enoughh protein in your diet?
i've talked to a few vegetarians and was thinking about becoming one but when they said their main source of protein was nuts, i decieded not to because i'm allergic to nuts...so then i wouldn't get any protein.
although, if i wasn't allergic to nuts...and if my parents would be willing to cook vegetarian meals for me(which i'm sure they wouldn't) then i would seriously consider being a vegetarian.

For me protein is def not a problem, there are many meat replacment products out that that do contain high amounts of protein like beefless ground beef or chickenless chicken strips. Before I was started becoming vegetarian I talked to a bunch of other veggie eaters and one girl said for protein she would take protein powder and mix it with milk or make it into a shake ( though some taste really really shitty thast why u get a good brand ), u also got tofu you can cook with, theres also fruits that contain simple amino acids and if u eat various fruits with grains and nuts u cna get all the required amino acids ( meat contains all the necesary amino acid) since i'm lacto-ovo vegetarian I can consume milk and eggs and get my protein there if I need to. Alot of vegetarians usually jump into becoming that way without a plan and there diets always lack something (I've noticed this in alot of people that i have talked to). I bet a majority of vegetarian teens probably won't be able to do too many stanous activitys cause of there unstable diets.
For me everything is in check these past 3 months since I started, and my diet has been the healthiest its ever been, TBH the thing I know my diet lacks the most but i'm still getting enough of is fats and sodium, which are both needed for runners considering both those usually come with with the process of eating meat
