Seriously people, "Oh my gosh, Tiger Woods won with an injury! Let's make him our god!"
How about all the runners who have kept going in marathons when they're hurt? How about that??

I would say they're both around the same achievement, degrading golf in this instance only hurts your argument.XC_Love_518 wrote:Golfing.

That reminds me of the time I got a letter from this Scholar Athlete program last winter, and one of the "sports" was chess. Seriously, anyone smart enough to be invited to something like that can do chess.Wow wrote:ATribeCalledGreg wrote:

Joey Chestnut is the pride of San Jose (yeeyee)!
And they're thinking about putting chess in the Olympics.
Also, if cheerleading doesn't count as a sport then what about gymnastics as well.. since it's a "panel of judges" judging both. Or even ice skating.
Lol!baby got track wrote:My friend thinks marching band's a sport... I don't.
I'm sure it's tough to walk around with a giant instrument or twirl around a giant flag in colorguard, but I still don't think that qualifies it as a sport...

those people are idiots who need to actually go do it, then tell us if it deserves the title of "sport".
I know! they may practice all day, but it's not a sport.futureNIKErunner wrote:baby got track wrote:My friend thinks marching band's a sport... I don't.

Maybe that's what people who do the respective sport would say about something like gymnastics or golf.
Point being: Most people think just running isn't considered a sport, a feat of athleticism it is but not a sport.
I agree, they may not think it's a "real" sport like football, but they don't put it on the same level as ballet and cheer leading.AudienceOfOne wrote:there aren't a lot of people that don't think track is a sport.Wow wrote:futureNIKErunner wrote:Wow wrote:This is actually kind of funny seeing this discussion on a running forum as well.. considering many people don't think track is a sport...

I love when they say "so and so lost _ pounds" in sports like baseball and football, that shows how lacking their fitness is in that particular area.CT Track wrote:Yet somehow NASCAR drivers are more fit than most baseball players. Racing require a lot of concencration, strength, and endurance. Also I'll agree poker is not a sport, but it is also an entertainment and very competetive and rakes in a lot of money for ESPN.
