Ok, I will remain calm simply because its a misunderstanding. but for the LAST time, I am NOT trying to say DISTANCE runners should focus on speeding up and pumping there arms like sprinters!
What I am saying is, that a good distance runner, no matter how fast his legs are, needs to have a strong upper body so that at the end of a race he does not tighten up on top and slow down.
While your arms will not be moving even half as fast as a sprinters for the majority of a mile, if you dont lift upperbody, your arms will go much, much SLOWER than they should be. (from tightening up)
