Hahaha if you read it you would probably complain tooFinishingKick wrote:Do you always have to complain about the Scarlet Letter?baby got track wrote:The essay topic I have to write about for English:
The Scarlet Letter- Trace the evolution of the scarlet letter "A", i.e. the designations of "adultery," "able" and "angel"; insofar as our concerns as readers rest foremost with the protagonist, be certain that each tenor makes reference to the possessor of the letter "A" only, namely Hester Prynne; this means that, at the very least, that of "angel," since it was originally intended not for Hester but for the recently deceased John Winthrop, will require some unraveling of Hawthorne's symbolic network; nevertheless, as we demonstrated in class, just such symbolic connections, among many others, do, indeed, exist; I would recommend that you pay particular attention to the statue imagery as well as the mention of "the coming revelation" found at the very close of the romance.
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?!?!?!?!?!
anyone?!
I think it's saying trace the evolution of the Scarlet Letter through symbolism and statue imagery, though I'm not sure because I've never read the book.
And our prewrite is due tomorrow, actual essay is due in a week

Ohh there is this guy ^ ,that quote reminded me of him. He's new from Colorado (I forgot where) and he's like the male version of me, except he doesn't run and he's kinda strange...but besides that he's like perfect. AND he has curly hair haha
He just started talking to me, and when he see's me he like yells my name and waves...Its kinda cute. haha even though it sounds really dorky. Maybe I can convince him to do track or cross country, he looks like a runner..I was surprised he wasn't.

Re: The Next World Record
My school is thinking of shortening the school year by 2-3 wks because of budget crisis. I feel bad for the teachers who don't get that pay, but then again I would have more summer vacation. Although finals would be over, that means all of the non ap electives would lose two to three weeks of projects.
On the other hand, my school just spent $20,000 to fund clubs and sports rather than having the students fundraise which they did before the school agreed to financially support them. So maybe the budget thing is their own fault

If my school cut more than a 1/2 day we would get in trouble by the state.

Re: The Next World Record
It probably won't happen, because the school has to consult with the governor's staff first, and imagine the bad publicity when the teacher's union and parents complain about it.

I swear I never have a full week of school. We always have 4 day weeks or 5 and 1/2 weeks. We go the same length as everyone else but sheesh, its crazy.

Re: The Next World Record
This guy is in a contest for a brand new laptop. He had to write an article all about something and chose cross country.http://chris.pirillo.com/2008/12/05/what-is-xc-cross-country/ .
The way he wins is if he gets the most comments (no spam or two word comments, must be about three sentences), so if you want to support a guy who is giving publicity to the world of runners, please comment

Re: The Next World Record
aha! So i'm student of the month, and its super funny. One of their reasons for picking me is xc captain, good grades, being nice etc.. and that I run (for the most part) year round. Lastly is my buff weightlifting skills =/ Coming from the 5'7 110 pound girl. They made me sound like a freaking beast or man, really they just go on and on about it.. Now my friends are calling me gertha, and they announce this every morning for a week..on the intercom. haha its soo embarrassing
