Well I don't know if this is a stupid question... but I'd like some input...

So, we are allowed to officially start practice one week before school starts, but our coach is away, so she won't be there and I don't know what we'll be doing. so, I want to know what I should do as far as mileage goes, and as far as workouts go.

    1) Mileage- By this time I will have had 3 weeks of 50mpw. Should I do anothere 50 mile week or should I cutback a little... If I cut back, how much?...45?...35?
    2) Workouts- Over the summer I have done one tempo/fartlek and one hill workout per week. Now, should I maybe do a speed workout instead of tempo or fartlek? I was thinking maybe 3x 1 mile or 4x 1200... And then I would still do a hill workout later in the week... I think.

But I know it's only 1 week, so it probably won't make much of a difference. So, any input?

Just because the season is starting doesn't mean you need to totally change your training. No need to drop mileage. If you want to transition into speed workouts, try 8x400 full recovery 4 seconds faster than a 400 at 5k pace. or 4x1000 at 5k pace, with 2 minute recovery.

Use the week to transition into the training you'll be doing this season. If you do drop your mileage only drop it a little bit and trade that for some kind of workout.

i agree with FK, just kind of get used to the training you'll be doing in-season without necessarily going right into it.
