officially the shay xcs are an upgrade to the kilkenny. my team mate has them and they are good spikes, and i did strides in them. they lock your foot in place better than the kilkenny, are more aggressive to help you land on the front of your foot, and grip the ground better(in my opinion). basically they were better in every respect besides weight. the waffles are an entry-level xc spike, shays are better

Look at the not gay color'd harambees (there are only the two), they look pretty sweet. They are only .3 ounces heavier than the Dirt Dogs, but IMO the spike bed looks WAY better.
Try them both out, they are both solid, just go by fit for them.

The Shays are pretty gosh darn sweet! Really light weight, super bendy, and the colors really POP out at you. I can't wait for XC so I can wear mine.
