Yeah, but they aren't that cheap. There are some pretty fuel efficient cars that aren't hybrids and cost less. But they still aren’t as environmental friendly. I know in Seattle, Hybrid owners get tax breaks and special parking. I reallllly want one Sad

ok an ethanol plant is being built in our area but i dont think its a good idea. i think if we use more corn to make ethanol there will be less for the farmers in our area to feed their livestock(yes they do that here, we dont usually eat the corn the animals do) and the price will go up causing everthing else to go up. we need something tho.

The price isn't going to go up for ethanol, there's plenty of it.

yea. i meant for corn in general and that will cause other prices to go up too. it takes so much corn to make ethanol tho. even if prices dont go up a super amount the fields that have to grow the corn are just going to get worn out because instead of recycling the fields like beans corn wheat they will just have to keep planting corn. i just dont think its a good idea.

They don't use that much corn either. It's not like they are putting 50 stalks into one gallon of ethanol. Corn is a part of ethanol but it isn't the whole thing, you don't understand that.

Part of why we aren't using corn as an alternative fuel is because like she said ^ the amount of corn we would need is insane. But you can use other products besides corn.
and they are debating whether the amount of energy it takes to produce that much corn or alternative product is really efficient or not.

I like the idea of ethanol, but I just dont think we should use corn.

The thing about corn is that you can always regrow corn. You can't "grow" oil, there's only a limited supply of it.

and true, you can regrow it. But ethanol doesnt have as much energy as fuel, and you'd have to fill up more. Also it wouldn't be as available on the west or east cost due to lack of crops. But you mid-western folk would have the majority of it, making it more exspensive in other places.

We should genetically engineer corn for growth so we can get three-four harvest out of the summer months.

And food prices are effected more by the population. There is going to be 8 billion people on this planet by the time we are middle aged. Earth has her own way of fighting excessive population and we are setting ourselves up for tradgedy by the way we breed.

Alternative fuels sound good in theory but they have serious economic consequences. There have been food riots in other countries because they don't have enough of things like rice. We should start small: solar, wind, etc.

They get funds from companies who advertise on the guys networks of site for the rice. You play the game and each word you get correct is 20 grains of rice.
