The other day i set out to run an easy 3 at 7:20 pace.I was hitting my times perfectly the out of nowhere with 800 left i felt like my lungs were on fire and i coundbt breathe properly.Shocking because before i waxnt breathing heavy at all and i felt relaxed.I felt like i couldnt ride home and i was just slouching over my handlebars. When i got home it was so bad i couldnt breathe through my mouth.

I jus wanted to know wtf?and has this happened to anyone else. This maybe the end of my year old track carrer

Does anyone know anything on this forum? Every time someone comes here with a problem (that should be brought up with a doctor first), people say "just run easy until you know what's wrong." If that happened to me, I'd go to the emergency room. It almost sounds as if one of your lungs burst.

Obviously seeing as he had the time and energy to post that on this forum (unless he passed out right after clicking "Send").

I don't know what it is, but it's most likely not a "possoble end".

It wasn't a contradiction, I just said he should go to a doctor before posting, and then said he must be fine (for now) if he can post.

This would happen to me sometimes when I played soccer in 7th grade. I'm not sure if it's the same thing, but It'd just get hard to breathe. It hasn't happened to me for a good long time, though.

On some of my easy long runs at the end my heart starts to hurt a lot but it only happens maybe 4-5 times a year so I keep running and never told a doctor maybe I will next week on those yearly checkup things. I know your problem is your lungs not your heart but maybe it will go away like my heart thing does and only come back every now and then. Check with the doc and tell him everything. Tell us what he/she says. I don't think this will be the end of your running.

well, I don't really know what asthma is like because I don't have it, but could it be sports induced asthma? I have no idea, just a guess.

i would guess that also. i don't have asthma either, but that's how my friend describes it. but you're doing the right thing by seeing a doctor.

Sounds like asthma or an allergy to me. Your body may just have been reacting under stress (ie: it encountered a foreign allergen that normally wouldn't have elicited such a reaction, but responded differently because it was already under strain from the physical activity). Did you get stung? Were you riding/running near a farm? Maybe the pollen count was just unusually high?

Didnt go to the doctor cuz i figured it out on my own.I thought back to when i first started feeling heavy on my chest and tried to remember all the changes i had made. it was my Air Wick Freshmatic it goes off every 30mins even when im asleep and affects my breathing. now i took it down and my health is getting better i did 11 miles at a perfect 7:40 pace and i felt great.I dont have asthma or allergies and im in ok shape

This is just a warning to other runners
