For some background on Symmonds, he ran a 1:53 800 and around a 4:19-20 1600. Most people feel he could have probably beaten these times since his coach stressed "learning how to race" over time trialing.
This is what I remember of his college progression:
Freshman: 1:49
Sophomore: 1:48
Junior: 1:48
Senior: 1:45
He could have definitely walked on to most Division I schools or have been recruited by quite a few.
