Gu?
I got a free sample of gu at a health expo before a race a while ago and I decided to use it on my long run (10 miles)today just to try it out. I slurped it down about halfway through when I was starting to get tired... I thought it helped (maybe it just worked like a plasebo?). So, my question is, does anyone here use gu? if so, on what type of runs?, how long?

Re: Gu?
I used it in 7th grade during half marathon training. It was tasty. I probably wouldn't use it any more now, though. I'm not doing any runs long enough to justify it.

Re: Gu?
Probably just the plecebo effect. I don't use them, although once my long runs get up to about 17 miles (by the end of the summer) I'll probably need to start using something of that sort (I'd really rather NOT hit 'the wall')

Re: Gu?
I don't consume GU, I use Honey Stinger gel.
I have tried it a few times but I only use the gels for anything 13+ miles.

it's like if you were sick and got medicine to make you better but really the medicine was just water and you got better and thought the water was what made you better, but really it was just you thinking that you got medicine so you got better.
sorry if that made no sense...

Re: Gu?
I wasn't planning on using it... I just had the sample so I figured I'd try it. But I don't have money to spend on stuff like that, that I don't really need. I was just curious.

You really don't need it for the 2 mile.
It's not jogger food if you use it on longer runs. Your body can only store so much glycogen, and once you get to long enough runs, you need to start replaceing the glycogen on the go. I'm going to start using something once my long runs get a bit longer, because although I probably won't use up all the glycogen, I'd rather stay on the safe side.

Re: Gu?
ok. Yeah I’ve had it a couple times during xc. Its ok. Some of the flavors are kind of gross. Chocolate is the best i think. Vanilla sucks.
It took me a while to get used to it, and then i just didn’t buy it anymore.
