ok. people might not quite get the reference if it's up there, but I won't argue.

Re: Any of you tried this?
Okay. I don't actually have spike spikes. My racing shoes have rubber spikes which work fine for XC (nothing too muddy here) and for track, and for the road too.

Re: Any of you tried this?
I just wear my training flats for road racing--my spikes have too much give to be comfortable on the road and my training shoes have more structure. I suppose it depends on the type of spikes....

Re: Any of you tried this?
I've thought about doing that for some courses that have a fair amount of pavement. I dont think it will ruin the spike plate but I'm not 100% on that either.
Edit: ^ I was talking about xc... I wouldn't suggest that for road races.. haha so nvm.

If the shoe is a true XC spike (forever xc, mach 9), the soft sole should be ok. But if you opt for a track spike (hard plastic plate), that probably wouldn't be good. You also probably wouldn't get good traction with a hard plate on the road. You race in Forevers, right? I'd say go for it. I'm tempted to put blanks in my Mach 9s for a few harder workouts to get used to running in them again.

I wore my Forevers for a road race, I don't think it ruined the plate.

Re: Any of you tried this?
Of course real men run road races with the spikes in (Actually one kid on my MS XC team did this. He was the only one with spikes and he didn't know our first race was on pavement).

Re: Any of you tried this?
Yeah, he probably did. I just remember thinking about what an idiot he was for wearing spikes to a race to be run on pavement.AudienceOfOne wrote:he couldn't have just unsrewed them when he got there?funrunner wrote:Of course real men run road races with the spikes in (Actually one kid on my MS XC team did this.
